Our Jambu Sneakers for Springtime Comfort

Quote of the day: “For me, music and life are all about style.” Miles Davis

I’m not a musician like Miles Davis, but his quote does speak to me. Because we all have some kind of style, and personally, shoes are one item that I love so much. Yet as we get older, we crave comfort and good support in our shoes.

Luckily, many companies like Jambu have realized that comfort and style can be together in one shoe. I’ve worked with Jambu in the past, and was asked to be one of their Brand Ambassadors. What that means to you is you can receive 20% off your own Jambu shoes with the code JTOUCH20 .

We will be showcasing a couple of different spring styles from Jambu in the next months, and today we started with pair of comfortable and casual flats in your closet. I think sneakers are the go-to when you are exploring different places, and it was the perfect style for a field trip to our Air & Space Museum.

Jodie’s (50+) Outfit: How did I choose my pair of Azalea shoes?

Well, I was going to pick out the same pair of sneakers that Nancy & my mom ended up getting, so I figured I should try a different pair. It actually cracked me up that we all liked the same sneakers originally. Does that mean we’ve been hanging around each other too much?

One of the reasons, I like these Azalea sneakers is because of the cut outs on the sides. And talk about easy to get on and off. They do come in black and blush also. The blush color almost looks like tan on their website; however, in their gallery you can see it’s more pinkish on the model.

So for this outfit, I started with the fact that the sneakers were light blue, and I wanted them to stand out against my jeans. Therefore, I pulled out my white jeans. Truly my white jeans are my go to jeans for so many of my outfits. That’s why I have more than one pair in my closet. I even showed how to style them for the winter last year.

With the shoes being light blue, I pulled that into the outfit with my cardigan.

Not that your shoes have to match an item in your outfit. I always love it when the shoes are a total contrast also.

As for the sweater, I knitted this cardigan a couple of years ago, and even wore it when we styled a light blue series

The rest of the outfit came together by adding in some bright pink in my tank top, purse, sunglasses and even a touch in my earrings.

I want to point out the bottoms of these sneakers. In the fall versions, I was talking about how the soles were fabulously treaded for the ice and snow. Maybe you can see from this photo below, but even the spring versions have a very stable sole to them. In fact, many of Jambu’s casual flats look perfect for hiking. Jambu calls this the all-terra traction.

Nancy’s (60+) Outfit: Nancy decided to pick out a pair of sneakers that has a little color to them. She chose the Cheyenne version, just like my mom did.

But Nancy went with the orange/grey color as she’s gotten a ton of use out of her orange sandals she bought last year from DSW. It’s a perfect example of how you can use your shoes as a pop of color in your outfit.

Even though orange is not a predominant color in Nancy’s outfit, she did add in a little with her earrings. And there is a little of the same color in the embroidery on her jacket.

I have to tell you what a fabulous deal this blazer was at the thrift store. We went to Clothes Mentor’s $2 sale, and I found this. I actually chose it for myself; however, it fit Nancy much better. Especially after my mom shortened the sleeves for her. But $2. Isn’t that a fabulous deal? It’s one of those pieces that has so much interest, you don’t need many accessories. Just like we talked about last week in our minimalist outfits.

Jambu sneakers as a transition to spring

As for Nancy’s pair of Jambu sneakers, they also come in black, navy & pink, along with the powder blue ones that you’ll see on my mom below.

I really like the small flowers on the straps which when you’re up close make the shoes seem a little more feminine. Yet the straps aren’t too bulky, so to me the shoe seems more open, and would be cooler for the warmer weather.

Overall, Nancy’s outfit is really more businessy with an artsy flair more than it is casual, yet these shoes work nicely with the look. There is a nice saying on the back of Nancy’s jacket but for the life of me, I can’t remember what it says!

And my mom did what she does best, and that’s match her shoes to her pants. Especially if you like to wear denim jeans, then this color would be perfect for you. And my mom created the same kind of business casual look like Nancy did with her outfit. Going to show that sneakers can work for so many occasions.

However, what is really a little funny, is how my mom and I styled almost the same color scheme. Her white is on the top half instead, and her pink is lighter, but it’s close. Of course, we have the same DNA, so that could be the reason. Or it could be that we are looking forward to springtime?

Interesting story about this purse that my mom is carrying.

She was telling me that it was my grandmother’s purse and my grandmother had gotten it at a rummage sale for 50 cents. Anyone else ever been to a rummage sale? I know my grandmother’s church used to have them quite a few times.

I noticed that all 3 of us wore pants or jeans with our sneakers. We tried wearing sneakers with skirts last year, but I’m not sure it went over fabulously. I’d like to try it again because it seems so smart especially for the summer time. Skirts tend to be cooler in the hot weather, yet it’s nice to wear comfortable shoes. And maybe these Cheyenne sneakers would be more aesthetically pleasing since they are more open on the front of the foot?

And let me end this outfit with a couple of features about Jambu sneakers. Mom’s and Nancy’s sneakers are considered vegan, and all of ours have a memory foam foot bed along with the all terra traction. Some are even water ready meaning they have drainage and quick drying materials. It seems like there is something for everyone.
