A Dressy Occasion Calls for a Jumpsuit

How do you feel about jumpsuits? Maybe I had one as a youngster, but certainly not in my adult years, as I was certainly in the mindset that I wouldn’t want to wear one. How silly is that? I always thought that it would be hard to go to the bathroom in such a garment. But let’s look at the facts: some jumpsuits are certainly more challenging to get up & down easily. But can I tell you how many hooks & buttons I have to do & undo on my work trousers? Besides the fact of tucking in a shirt and buckling my belt. So when I compare the jumpsuit to the business trouser sometimes the jumpsuite could be easier!
I get to blame (and I say that with a smile and wink) Samantha of Fake Fabulous for pushing me to get the three of us wearing these! The challenge was suggested many, many months ago, and thus I had to find us some great ones to wear, alter them and figure out how to style them. The three of us wore them more casually in our last post.
Today is the dress up version of our same one piece garments. For those of you who don’t love to wear a dress, I can see how this might be the perfect piece for you! Especially the ones I found for your shopping enjoyment below—black is a basic requirement for a formal occasion, and all you would need are shoes & jewelry to complete the look!
Jodie’s (50’s) Outfit: I figured I’d try to change this up somewhat by adding the belt. This is the kind of belt that is perfect for traveling since it’s reversible. The other side of the “buckle” is bright pink!
I didn’t include a necklace in this mix since my earrings are long enough to rub my shoulders. Every once in a while I try a little restraint—ha ha! I think I could look a little more dressed up without the cardigan and if I’d put my hair up? So many options, so little time!!

Nancy’s (60’s) Outfit: Nancy looks so wonderful in this jumpsuit that she’s going to wear it for an upcoming reunion (I’m not telling which year…but if you are good at math you should be able to figure it out!). We originally had her styled in a gold wrap, but she wanted a kimono with sleeves so it wouldn’t move around as much. Thus when Charming Charlie had their $10 sale—I snagged this one for her!

If you’re on Instagram (feel free to follow me here) you might have seen the post about Nancy’s shoe shopping expedition! These metallic shoes are one of the pairs we found for her—exactly for this outfit and her reunion! She wore them all night (we took her to dinner for her birthday) and she said they felt great! Now that’s success!!

Charlotte’s (70’s) Outfit: To me, the ruffles on this jumpsuit make it somewhat dressy by itself, but we thought we’d add in the vertical scarf trick! And since there’s very little bling on the body, we used large spangle earrings to adorn the top half!
Now this may be one of those outfits that you think would be too much trouble when you have to go to the bathroom, and I might agree. Although, it also seems like we basically primp and adjust our clothing anyways when we need our bathroom break, so I’m not sure it’s that much different?

I think the column of color makes most jumpsuits seem dressy to start with! So wearing them for a fancier occasion seems perfect!
