Jumpsuits for the 50’s, 60’s, & 70’s: The Smart Version
I may have expounded on what I considered about the pros & cons regarding these jumpsuits in the last two posts (the casual view here and the dressy view here). But the very best feature about the jumpsuit is the characteristic that it’s one and done like a dress. Now I may have put a jacket over them in this post, but the nice thing is you don’t have to worry if your top portion matches the bottom portion of your outfit! It’s easy that way!

The disadvantage that I’ve always heard about the item, is the work it takes to pull it all down for a trip to the bathroom. And I can certainly see the point. But the reality of that statement is it truly depends on the fit & style of the jumpsuit you’re wearing. So if you’re looking for an easy to style item like a dress, yet don’t want to expose your legs, the jumpsuit could be a fabulous alternative. Like I’ve learned—never say never!
This time the three of us tried for a more business oriented look with our jumpsuits. To me, what this means is adding a jacket or sweater over top!
Jodie’s (50’s) Outfit:
You can tell I am my mother’s child with the matchingness of this blazer to the jumpsuit. Maybe it’s too much? I think my grey blazer would have been nice too! It might have toned down the brightness somewhat. Or maybe even navy?
The necklace pendant is reversible (the other side is a teal blue with a blue center as seen here) and was made by a friend’s husband. Although he doesn’t have anything just like it right now available, he does make beautiful jewelry and and sculptures. If you’re interested, his website can be linked here.

Nancy’s (60’s) Jumpsuits Outfit:
This black & white jacket is such a perfect accompaniment to this jumpsuit. I left the jacket open for the pictures, but it’s just a nice when it’s clasped shut.
The earrings and necklace are a matching set. It’s definitely easier when you have a set, but it’s also fun to break them up and wear them with other pieces! Since we were going for a more serious vibe in this post…I figured matching was fine!!

Charlotte’s (70’s) Jumpsuits Outfit:
I think it’s interesting how putting a jacket over the ruffles of the sleeves makes it seem less feminine. This jacket is shorter and a linen blend so I thought it’d be perfect for the summer months. We all know that the A/C in most buildings require some kind of coverage!
Mom had this belt picked out almost as soon as I had given her the jumpsuit! It looks like a scarf, but it’s actually made to be a belt since it’s been threaded through gold rings in the back portion! I like how it adds a nice bit of color to the overall outfit!
