Adding Denim to Your Little Black Dress
Quote of the Day: “Hope is like the sun, which, as we journey toward it, casts the shadow of our burdens behind us.” Samuel Smiles
The little black dress (or as many call it, LBD) has been touted as the necessary dress in every woman’s closet. I’m not saying I totally agree with this statement, but I’d bet money that most of you have at least one hanging in your house! Since the majority of females think it’s the “it” dress, I’ll show some ideas how the three of us generations would wear it for our established three different categories.
We’ll start with the “really?” category first. Why would I wear this for a casual event was the question I received from both Nancy and my mother. And I replied, “Why not?” To casual up the little black dress I matched it with denim— I actually didn’t realize I styled the three of us so much alike with denim until I put the pictures together–at least I had some variety by using three different denims (a shirt, a vest and a jacket).
50’s LBD: I must admit, I’ve always loved the “tie the blouse in front” look and luckily for me I’m seeing it used much more lately!

60’s LBD: Nancy gets a lot of use out of this jean vest. I talked her into the red shoes in order to add some vibrant color to the mix.

70’s LBD: My mom’s denim jacket was actually purchased out of the boy’s department. Who says we’re limited to only shopping in the women’s department?

Even though we consider wearing our little black dresses for the dressier events, I think by adding a touch of denim they can work for some casual times too!
Would you wear your LBD for a relaxed look? Thanks for your thoughts!
