Little Black Dress–Summer 2: For a Work Day
Quote of the Day: “After the verb to love, to help is the most beautiful verb in the world.” Anonymous
The oh, so famous little black dress (LBD) that is hanging in your closet as we speak, continues to be the topic of the day. Why wear it only for the parties (or funerals)? I figure you might as well get some good use out of it and make it “work” for you (bad pun, I know). So we’ll pull the little black dress out of our closets and make it office appropriate for the summer months. The first in this series took us out of our comfort zone by styling it for a casual day (here).
50’s LBD: Since black is not a great looking color on me, I usually reserve this dress for funerals. I tried to add some color with the necklace, but since most office wear tends to be more subdued I kept the vest neutral. This vest came from 15each.com which sells used clothes and all their items are priced at $15.

60’s LBD: If you need to keep things lightweight in the summer, a nice, sleeveless top can work wonders over your black dress. Nancy’s top has a slight opening in the back, so wearing the dress underneath has the added benefit of keeping her bra from showing.
70’s LBD: My mom is always cold like me, so a jacket is not too warm even for the summer months. And as for this bracelet, you thought you’d seen all of my mother’s owl accessories…silly you!
Have you ever worn your LBD to work? How did you camouflage it?

Here’s some more little black dresses in the $50 price range. (The Express dress may seem short for some of you, but if you’re vertically challenged like me, it’ll be just above the knee—so says the review)
