Today I’m sharing 9 of the simple style hacks that I’ve shared on Instagram in 2023. The popularity factor came when looking at how many impressions the video received. I am NOT a huge social media influencer, so these numbers are not viral or super impressive.
But the simple style hacks are ones that I use repeatedly, and I figure the more you see them, the more they will absorb into your brains.
One of my superpowers is making the things we have in our closet work. Sure, some things aren’t perfect at first, but why not have some tricks up your sleeve that make it better?
Quote of the day: “Experience is the name everyone gives to their mistakes.” Oscar Wilde
My husband always asks how I come up with these ideas.
Truthfully, it’s only because when I put something on for the day and it needs to be “fixed” I try to figure out how to make it work. Which many times results in a simple style hack that gets videoed and shared.
Insider tip: Make sure to follow me on Instagram, TikTok, and/or Facebook where I share these ideas often.
I love the idea of being able to change up the things we already have in our closet which is why it’s a common theme on my site
How NOT to Tie a Kimono
Here’s one of these simple style hacks that I use not only for kimonos but also for scarves and belts. This does away with having too much bulk from the 2 pieces of fabric.

Sleeves Too Long?
Having sleeves that are too long is a common occurrence for me. Granted, I try to alter things when possible, but here’s an easy hack that keeps the original hem in place.
Instead of Tucking
I’ve seen many women talking about tucking the hem of your top into your belt loop. While I like that idea, the only drawback is you have to redo it each time you go to the bathroom. So I came up with another idea.
Insider details: You can find a variety of these scarf clips in different shapes, colors, and styles on Amazon.
Skirt to Shawl
There are simple style hacks that follow the idea of stopping categorizing our clothing. I had a couple of comments that this idea was silly. However, I believe that our clothing can be much more versatile than we think if we are open to new possibilities.
Sure, some material drapes better than others, but I loved how this turned out. Wanna see the skirt worn as a skirt? I recently restyled it.
Cleavage Covering
There are times when I don’t want a shirt to gape open when I lean forward, and this hack is one I use often.
Insider details: Magnets like these, I consider part of my essential styling kit as described here.
Off the Shoulder to Stay
Some off-the-shoulder tops tend to pull up when you move your arms. I’ve used the hack where you attach hair elastics to the underarm seams that sit under your armpit. While that trick words, it tends to dig into my underarms uncomfortably.
Which made me come up with this solution.
Shorten Your Necklace
I learned this simple style hack for your long necklaces from a woman at one of the fashion shows I was helping with, and it was like a light bulb moment. In fact, I used the same trick with my blue, cross necklace too.
Insider tip: If this looks familiar, it’s because it’s the same idea we use with many of our scarves.
Simple Bodysuit Style Hack
I held off on buying a bodysuit for the longest time because I wasn’t enthralled with the bathroom annoyance. Until I saw a woman tout this trick, and then I became a fan.
One reason bodysuits are big again is because they tend to be more form-fitting, and since the silhouette is bigger on our bottom half right now with the wide leg and cargo pants, it makes sense.
Change Your Belt Bag Into a Crossover
I love how some style hacks remind you to take the belt from your belt bag and change it to a different one. This enables you to wear it as a crossover bag too. Even if the new strap doesn’t “fit” (like mine didn’t), make sure to think outside of the box.
Keep Your Belt From Flapping
If you are wearing a belt with something that doesn’t have belt loops, you can end up with a flappy end. Unless you use this trick.
