I’m probably the last person who thought I would embrace a concept like Your Revolving Closet. Why? Because I love my clothes. Yet that’s exactly why this clothing rental service might be something you need.
Hear me out. Maybe it’s not for you, but I think knowing more about it is key. I’ve since created a new article with more information after using it for 6 months.

Cleaning
You might realize that I have an addictive personality by now. You’ve seen my yarn storage room. You’ve seen my closet. And you’ve seen my accessories.
So why would I want to try out this service called Your Revolving Closet? (Trust me, at first, I wasn’t even sure I would like it).
Maybe because my closet is SOOOOOO full. And yet that doesn’t stop me from finding great deals and buying more. I love trying out new items and then putting them together with things I’ve had for ages.
By the way, I have discussed rental and clothing boxes in the past if you want to read more about the subjects
How ‘Your Revolving’ Closet Happened
Do you like the backstory? If so keep reading. If not, feel free to skip ahead.
A company reached out to me asking if I would like to hear more about a clothing rental company. I know a couple of my friends have promoted other services like this. I tried out Rocksbox years ago which is a jewelry rental service.
Insider tip: One of my friends LOVED Rocksbox and considered the monthly fee her budget for jewelry. She would get a huge variety to wear instead of buying only a couple of pieces.
For this project, not only would I get to try out the service, but I would use my creativity to come up with the name and the tagline. Rob and I brainstormed the name Your Revolving Closet and submitted my photos for the website.
While it’s “my” website, the clothing is part of a service by Haverdash who takes care of the backend with the clothes, questions about the service, and everything else.
Me? I get to try it out and promote it (if I think it’s worth it). And I do think it’s worth it for some people–read on.
Insider detail: EVERYONE reading this gets a FREE 30-day trial and since it’s super easy to cancel, I suggest trying it out. There’s just no reason not to. If you fall in love with one of the clothing items, you can buy it for secondhand prices.
If you decide to continue your membership, I do get a small commission. That’s not my goal. My goal is to inspire women to try new styles and have fun with their clothing. And what’s more fun than free clothing for a month?
BTW, because I am promoting the service, I am getting 4 pieces of clothing in each of my boxes. When you sign up for the free 30-day trial, you will be getting 2 pieces in each box. There is an option to increase that amount if you sign up for the service.
Reasons For a Clothing Rental Service
Of course, a clothing rental service isn’t for everyone. But you may be surprised that it could be helpful to learn more about what will look good on you.
Here are just a sample of why some people use a clothing rental company.
- New things weekly- If you’re anything like me, you may have enough clothes in your closet, but you still love getting new things occasionally. Getting my Your Revolving Closet box is like having a gift delivered. It’s so exciting to open the box, try on the clothes, and figure out new outfits with them.
- Special event or vacation – Do you have a wedding coming up and don’t have a thing to wear? How about a trip? These are great reasons to sign up.
- Losing (or gaining) weight– This is one reason there is a maternity tab on Your Revolving Closet. Now WAIT…don’t automatically assume this is only for someone pregnant. If you are an apple-shaped woman, maternity could be a great option. AND trust me, no one knows an item is maternity sized. Or if you are losing weight and don’t want to buy clothes you’ll just have to give away once you lose more, this service is ideal.
- Not sure about new trends– As I constantly talk about, it’s not important to follow every style and trend. Yet if you don’t try something new, you’ll never know if it could be wonderful for you.
- Changing style– Our life chapters are evolving, and it’s important for our style to evolve too. But who wants to spend a ton of time and money when you have no idea how to get it to evolve?
The best part is you don’t have to use Your Revolving Closet for more than the free 30-day trial, or any extended time. You can use it for a month, 2 months, or whatever, and then cancel it.
One of my friends said she has had her subscription on hold for years through Powered By Haverdash. I don’t think they offer holds anymore, but she loved using it and wants it there just in case.
Examples of Clothing From Your Revolving Closet
In my first month of using Your Revolving Closet, I have tried out over 12 clothing items. Before I agreed to use this service, I checked out their selection to make sure there were colors and styles that I would like.
My biggest worry was that everything would be black which is not my style. Obviously, you can see from these examples that there is a wide variety of colors and items.
And I wanted items that I could easily integrate into my existing wardrobe as well as pieces that I like but maybe weren’t sure about them on me.
You should definitely sign up for the emails below. Besides the free eBook, my email family gets personal tidbits of what’s going on in my life along with other happenings, sales, information, giveaways, extra photos, and interesting articles.
How You Work the System To Your Advantage
Of course, there are instructions and descriptions on the site of how to use it. And there is the Frequently Asked Question section.
But let me give you a little insider scoop.
When you sign up for Your Revolving Closet, you automatically get a free 30-day trial. Yes, you still have to give them your credit card in case you want to buy a piece (or if you want to extend the subscription).
At this stage, you will have told them your size in your favorite brands so that they can suggest sizes in all of the brands they carry (over 170 brands at this time).
As soon as you sign up, you should go into the program and add many, many things (I currently have 70 items) to your closet (that’s the lingo for saying you would like to try out this and that item).
Insider tip: Make sure you have a good 30-40 minutes for this step.
After you add the things you think you’d like to wear, then you’re going to look for the hanger icon (in the right-hand corner). The hanger is where “Your Closet” resides. You have 3 tabs:
At Home-These are the items being sent to you or already at your house.
On The Rack– These are all of the items you’ve requested.
On Hold– Here is where you can put things you might want at a later date or when your size is available.
Now you want to go into On The Rack and click the button to prioritize any items you want sooner rather than later.
For example, I won’t be wearing sweaters in the summer months in Arizona, so I prioritized all sweaters and jeans.
Insider tip: There is also a feature called DART, where you can pay $5 to make sure you get a specific item right away. I have not used this feature and can’t speak to it.
Then every Monday, there are new arrivals added to the site. So make sure to go through the new arrivals and add more items to your closet. Because many people are using this service, you want to check as early Monday morning as possible to have items available in your sizes. Don’t forget, if you want something that isn’t in your size, add it to “On Hold.”
Returning Items
If you want to get as many clothing items as possible during your time using Your Revolving Closet then one of the tricks is to go ahead and click the button to return the item as soon as you are informed of the box being sent to you. I know, I know, you haven’t even received the clothing yet, but this action triggers another box to be sent.
This means you’ll have twice the amount of clothes from the service. And you can keep them until you return the prepaid bag with ANY 2 pieces. You DO NOT have to return the items you received first. Your returns are checked in once you send in the bag, and not by the website.
Once you return a bag, it usually takes about 4-5 days to get another box. And then you start all over with the process.
Sizing
There is a wide variety of sizing available with Your Revolving Closet. From XS to 4XL.
Unfortunately, there isn’t petite (or tall) sizing available, but I have learned how to compensate for that. However, I have been impressed that the couple of sizes I wear in certain brands have correlated to the brands used in this service.
Insider tip: Since I am short (5’2″) I look for ankle-length or cropped pants. Skirts and dresses are also easier for a good fit. If you aren’t sure about an item (for instance the tan FRNCH pants because they aren’t shown on a person) then I went to the brand website and searched. For my FRNCH pair of pants, I found out they are considered cropped which is why I requested them).
The thing is if you get a piece of clothing that doesn’t fit, no biggie. You just send it back and they will send you something else.
One thing to think about is to look at the product description of the material. Anything with stretch, lycra, spandex, or a knit material will stretch more than something all cotton.
Can You Buy the Rental Clothing?
If you love the clothing that is sent in your box, you can keep it for any amount of time to wear again and again as long as you have the membership.
But if you want to purchase it, the cost is very reasonable. I would consider it like buying clothes from a consignment store.
Insider tip: As soon as you are informed that your box is coming, take a screenshot of each piece because once you hit the “Return the Item” button, you can’t see how much it would cost to buy it. In reality, if you forget this step, you can easily email the company and ask them the cost.
I have heard that the company will offer you a deal on clothing that you have kept for a time. Since I’ve only been using this service for a month, that hasn’t happened to me yet.
How Clothes are Cleaned for Your Revolving Closet
One of my friends asked about how the clothes are cleaned for Your Revolving Closet because she is very sensitive to fragrances and toxic ingredients.
This is what the company said: “We treat our clothing with the utmost care and do not use any detergents, fabric softeners, or chemicals that are harsh. Our clothes are professionally dry-cleaned or laundered with detergents that are free from dyes and scents. All our clothes are dry-cleaned or laundered with gentle laundry detergents and low-temperature cycles. Also, the products we use for wet cleaning are not alkaline-based and are therefore a gentler alternative for garments, protecting them from shrinkage and color loss. We have a rigorous policy for garment cleanliness, for both wet and dry cleaning processes. This includes the use of the latest technology in steam tunnels, which at up to 325 °F, is well above the maximum temperature at which most insects, bugs, and germs can survive. Finally, each item is put through 3 rounds of inspection before it is shipped to our members.”
Cost of Your Revolving Closet
As I said, you get a free 30-day trial with Your Revolving Closet so I consider it risk-free.
However, if you want to continue the membership, there are different levels you can choose.
- 2 items out-at-a-time $50.00 /mo
- 3 items out-at-a-time $65.00 /mo
- 4 items out-at-a-time $80.00 /mo
- 5 items out-at-a-time $90.00 /mo
- 6 items out-at-a-time $100.00 /mo
The thing to remember is that you can usually get 2 boxes a week if you return items right away meaning even with the 2 items per box option, you can rent 16 items in a month.
And you don’t have to return them in the order you received them. For instance, I have kept a couple of items that I like the best from my first couple of boxes in case I want to wear them again (or maybe even purchase them).
