OTK Boots for Women over 50

Okay, let’s be serious ladies. Who among us thinks that the “over the knee” (OTK) boots are just too out there? Maybe it’s the images from the “Pretty Woman” movie. Or how they used to be called “thigh high” boots. I, too, used to think that these kinds of boots were sleazy and not my style. But I drank the kool-aid and I’m here to give you some thoughts on why.  Mine are from Target (but here is a similar pair) and I styled them in one of our New Year’s Eve post. My rationales for this particular pair are below.

1-I wanted a somewhat different color instead of black.

2-When I’m wearing skirts/dresses, I really like a heel, but I didn’t want a thin one.

3-I read the reviews that stated the plum version of these looked better than the black leather ones

4-I found an online coupon for $5 off $50. (they weren’t on sale when I got them)

5-Free shipping and easy returns to the store.

There is an altogether practicality to these kinds of boots if you’re the type of woman who still likes to wear skirts and dresses in the colder months. And that is warmth and coverage! We all know that feeling when the wind and cold gets between our skirts and boots–frrreeeeze. Boots that extend farther up your leg help ward off this frrreeeze.  And depending on the length of your dress/skirt, most of the time, no one will even know that your boots are OTK! In addition, you know that slit in the back of some of your longer skirts? Well, with these higher boots, you aren’t exposing more leg than you want. I mean, hey, I’m just being purely practical.

And here’s another reason to consider buying a pair: do you have any skirts or dresses that are a tad too short? Of course you do! Well these boots are the perfect remedy for that problem! The skirt doesn’t look too short when your leg is entirely covered with your boots!

Or if you feel a teensy bit exposed wearing your leggings & a tunic, these OTK boots can help you feel more covered!
