Springtime Print Top 6 (Dressy)

Print Shirts for women in their 50's, 60's, & 70's.

Print Top for the 50’s, 60’s, & 70’s: The Dressy Version

We were gifted these shirts from NewChic, but I was not paid for writing my posts. All of our feelings are honest and true!

Quote of the day: “A friend is a gift you give yourself.” Robert Louis Stevenson

The same print blouses that we styled for casual (here) and then for a work environment (here), now gets gussied up for a fancier event. You may not consider a print blouse as a dressy item, but I think that it can be changed depending on what you pair it with and of course taking into account where you are going. I incorporated some variety in our outfits by having mom wear pants, Nancy wear a skirt and I wore shorts—(sequined ones at that–crazy, I know)! At the end of each post NewChic offers a discount for my readers and I include some feedback of the items!

70’s Outfit: Here’s mom’s shirt worn like a jacket (see the reason below). Since most of us older women think of pearls as dressy—I used them to add fanciness to this look.

Review of the 70’s model’s shirt: Mom’s shirt was 2 sizes too small even though I went by the measurements on the website. That is why you’ll notice she always has it open or under another clothing item. Due to this, after the pictures, it got relegated to me (yippee!!). And, I love this blouse! It’s somewhat shiny and doesn’t wrinkle and the colors are so wonderful in my opinion—I’ve worn it 3 times already and it washes like a dream. I feel like the quality is superb for such a low cost item. Overall, the site has some fun items for any age group. I think it could be a great option especially if you wanted to try out one of the newer trends (like this open shoulder shirt or this maxi skirt), but didn’t want to spend a lot of money.

And lastly I’ll show some fabulous print pants (don’t be afraid—they are great at covering lumps & bumps):

Jodie, you are playing my tune with print blouses. My go-to outfit is a beautiful print blouse (florals, birds, butterflies, you name it) with a skinny or straight jean and a cute ballet flat. The shoe and jewelry can dress it up or down. It is just such an easy, elegant and comfortable outfit. If a blouse is pretty, fits right and is on clearance at TJM/Marshalls, it comes home with me. (This happens way too frequently.) Particularly love 3/4 sleeve blouses that show your wrists and bracelets, with pretty open necklines. I’d buy all 3 of the blouses you all are wearing.

You all look lovely above – don’t any of you EVER have an off day?? You could all be models.

    • Jodie Filogomo

You are way too kind Kathleen!!
I know I didn’t like to see myself on the blog when we first started doing this! But we definitely try to look nice for the blog photos!!
A print top is such an easy way to look nice, I think! It always amazes me when I meet women who only dress in solids. And the fact that they think prints are too busy!! But I guess it’s all an individual thing, right?
And it sounds like you like shopping as much as I do?? Maybe you want to join in with us one of these days?

      • Kathleen McDermott

I am somewhat ashamed of how much I love shopping and how much I buy (though virtually always clearance). But, I have no intention of stopping (though I do have good, unactualized intentions of cutting back a bit). Would like to join in with you at some point!

        • Jodie Filogomo

I think your love of shopping should maybe be the starting of your own blog? It kinda goes hand in hand, you know!! But we’re all friends here, so there’s no reason to be ashamed!! I always say that we all have our vices, and shopping is better than drugs!! 🙂

  • Phwoar Jodie – you go girl! You look hot hot HOT in those shorts. Good for you! I love it.
And I love your Mum’s pointy shoes!
I’m now going to lie down and fan myself to recover.

    • Jodie Filogomo

Jacqueline—-I actually guffawed after reading this comment—I mean, I realized you have a comedic streak in you, but I wasn’t expecting that!! Thanks funny girl…that made my day!

  • You all look very good but darn Jodie, you just look very sexy. You almost make me reconsider my shorts haha.
Congratulations on winning the earrings. They look very chic. I can imagine you with those earrings, black dress and your hair up.

    • Jodie Filogomo

I probably should have put my hair up–it doesn’t do what I want most of the time anyways—and then you could appreciate the earrings!
Can’t wait to see those shorts on you again…wink, wink!!

  • Versatilestylebytracey

I see you are getting in at least one more OTK boot look before the temps get too warm! Funny how each look is so dramatically different with one being classy sexy, one being very femiine beautiful and one being very classic and comfy! All vibrant and beautiful!

    • Jodie Filogomo

Yeah…the boots have probably seen the last of the outer world for awhile—but I’ve loved every minute with them!! Thanks for such nice words Tracey!!

  • Woah, Jodie, hubba hubba HUBBA!!! Love your look and how you achieved a very distinctly day look with something as evening as sequinned shorts 🙂 and oh my god, Charlotte looks a dream!!!

    • Jodie Filogomo

Wow…I haven’t gotten a hubba hubba since my 20’s!! Makes me think I need to wear these shorts more!! Mom has been looking great lately, eh? My cousin said I ought to get her into modeling!!

  • PetiteOver40

I’m with Gemma! I love your OTK boots with those sequin shorts! As always, you all look great! I always walk away from your posts so inspired!

    • Jodie Filogomo

Thanks so much Sherry—this was definitely a look that drew me out of my “normal” safe thinking!!

  • Jodie you look amazing in the OTK boots! You are seriously making me think of getting some now! Have a great weekend. Gemma x

    • Jodie Filogomo

Thanks Gemma! I really love my OTK boots—way more than I imagined. I did a post on it : http://bit.ly/1QpcPvA after I bought them. To me they are the cat’s meow—maybe because not everyone has them?

  • Bernadette Laganella

You are really rocking those shorts. Love those floral shirts. Great job styling.

    • Jodie Filogomo

Thanks Bernadette—wasn’t sure I should wear them (being 50 and all), but you only live once, right?

      • Bernadette Laganella

You look great. Enjoy your figure.

  • Amy D. Christensen

Gahhh! You all are adorable. I love your shorts. I would not be caught dead in them, but I love the look on you! And Nancy and Mom’s looks are great for any dressier occasion. I’m going to have to check their site out, because I love a nice printed blouse. Thanks for sharing! – Amy –

    • Jodie Filogomo

I would have NEVER bought these shorts 3 years ago (while still working), but my husband keeps reminding me that “you already have something like that” when I buy a new item. So when I saw these, I laughed because I certainly did not have anything like them in my closet!! I figured with my OTK boots & tights—it’s not like I’m overexposed, right? And for $15—if I wear them only a couple times…it’s all good (and then I can probably use parts of the material as embellishment on other things!!
