Why is Good Arch Support Important?
As we’ve aged our feet have taken the brunt of activities over the years. Because of this, we need to find shoes with good arch support. The fact of the matter is if our shoes aren’t supportive, this affects our legs, back, and overall health.
Basically, we need the arch support to assist with shock absorption which ties in with maintaining our balance. Since our bodies are all connected, having shoes with good arch support is important to reduce any muscle strain in our feet. Having issues with our feet can cause problems for our entire body.
What is Good Arch Support?
In all reality, each of us has different shapes and issues with our feet so our perspective of good arch support can differ. We all know that shoes that are too flat are not comfortable anymore. SO we need a material that fills in the space from the insole of the shoe to our foot.
This material needs to be somewhat rigid for the foot to rest upon yet not too hard so it doesn’t hurt. In fact, you want flexibility in the arch support so your foot can move comfortably.
The other factor is we want some buffer between the earth and our feet when we walk so a certain amount of foam or cushion is helpful.
It’s very important to take into account the quality of the shoes because you don’t want arch support that doesn’t stand up to the weight of our bodies and the wear and tear on the shoes.
Details of the Jambu Willow
These Willow shoes are considered flats and slip-ons for Jambu’s Fall 2021 selection. Lesley chose the tan color in her usual size.
Let me give you some details of these Willow slip-on shoes.

- There is faux fur lining throughout to keep your feet warm.

- Stitching for a stylish look.
- Gore on the sides to make it easy to get on and off.

- APMA accepted. The American Podiatric Medical Association has deemed this style for good foot health.
Lesley’s Review of these Shoes with Good Arch Support
It’s always so helpful to read the reviews before buying anything online if there are any. Yet, it’s also good to remember that every woman’s feet are different. In fact, many of the reviews I read on the Jambu website said they run big while others said they run small.
Lesley has been wearing Jambu footwear for over 2 years now and will give you her thoughts.
Why did you choose these shoes for our fall selection? “I guess I’m a mountain girl deep in my heart, I liked the style of this shoe to wear around town with casual outfits on cold mountain mornings. Forgot for a bit that cold Arizona mornings are equal to Colorado mountain heat waves.”
Tell me about your foot issues? “I have a narrow heel and high arches.”
What did you like about the Willow mocassin? “They are very warm and comfy. I can wear them around the house like a slipper, yet they have a real sole so I can keep them on when I take my dogs for a walk outside. Even if it’s wet on the pavement.”
What didn’t you like about these shoes? “For my narrow heel, they were too wide so they slipped when walking. I used a heel grip to counteract this issue which is what I do in many of my shoes”

Overall thoughts? “I always like Jambu shoes because they are quality shoes with consistent sizing. This Willow style has good arch support although not as high of arch support as my Jambu sneakers from a couple of years ago or my Jambu sandals from last spring. These Willow mocassins fit true to size for my feet except that the heel was wide.”
Do you Need Socks with Mocassins?
With the faux fur lining, you might be plenty warm without wearing any socks. Yet it’s nice to have options.
There are some great reasons for wearing socks with your mocassins.
1-You are covering any bare skin showing in case it’s really cold.
2-Socks are a wonderful layer to help if your feet sweat. The socks can absorb moisture.
3-You can add some personality with fun and interesting socks.

How Lesley Styled her Jambu Willow Shoes
Lesley chose to style her Jambu Willow shoes as part of casual jeans and a bohemian-style top. This isn’t the first time that Lesley has used what is considered boho pieces in her outfit. In fact, it was part of a theme covered by the three of us and we even included a guest model.
This flowy top has wonderful embroidery along the neckline and on the sleeves. The advantage of the embroidery is it adds some interest to the top without needing a necklace or scarf. It also brings some lightness to the top part of this look which ties in nicely with the tan shoes.
Skinny Jeans and Mocassins
For the bottom half, Lesley grabbed a pair of skinny jeans. Even though you might have read that the skinny jeans days are over, I consider them to be classic pieces in our closet. They are a great option with tops that have more volume if you want to keep the bottom half slimmer-looking.
Accessories for a Stylish Look
Accessories can be the cherry on top of any outfit, and Lesley is showing with some gold jewelry. The gold hoop earrings are a classic style that can go with everything.
Then she also added in a gold and bronze bracelet along with a sculptural ring.

I will point out that the color of the purse and shoes coordinate wonderfully. Even though we all grew up with the rule that your shoes and purse should match, this is no longer the case. But it’s a nice trick if you are trying to incorporate more of the same color of your shoes throughout the overall look.
