Silver Shoes 2 (With Black Pants)

Silver Shoes for the 50, 60 & 70 year old women.

Silver Shoes for the 50’s, 60’s, & 70’s: With Black Pants

Quote of the day: “A dream is just a dream. A goal is a dream with a plan and a deadline.” Harvey MacKay

Since I started noticing silver shoes on many other bloggers begining this winter, I thought it’d be a fun project for the three of us. I styled the silver shoes with white jeans in the last post (here-where you can also see the shoes up close & personal), and now I paired the same shoes with just the opposite-black pants. Even though the bottom half is black for each of us, they are still somewhat different. My black pants are faux leather in the front, Nancy’s wearing her black trousers, and mom put on black jeans. I think the silver shoes create a fun contrast against the black pants as opposed to the white jeans, where they blended in.

50’s Outfit: My silver cat earrings were actually quite tarnished when I pulled them out. So I used Tarnex on them with amazing results. What exactly is in that stuff?

60’s Outfit: Since Nancy’s outfit was black & white, we added colorful accessories for a pop of color. I know you’ve seen these necklaces quite a bit, but I think they add a bit of whimsy to many outfits. We originally showcased the gold necklace like the one Nancy is wearing in the fringe series here.

70’s Outfit: Mom bought this kimono? wrap? shawl? just recently. I thought that the burned out fabric look of the wrap complimented the openness of the crochet style of her shoes. It looks very coordinated don’t you think?.

If you want a heeled silver sandal, I found some lovely ones below (see the previous post for options in the flat version):

  • Kathleen McDermott

The silver shoes are wonderful with black pants too – like foot jewelry. All pretty outfits, particularly Nancy’s. Love Nancy’s touch of color with the fringe necklaces, your cool pants and Charlotte’s lovely wrap.

    • Jodie Filogomo

Having me look back on these photos, makes me think I need another pair of silver shoes…ha ha!! Because they are like foot jewelry! I may use that term in the future—it’s so perfect!

  • Thanks for linking up! Love the silver shoes. 🙂

  • Happinessatmidlife

I have several pair of silver shoes and love them with just about everything. Love your layering!

Thank you for being a part of TBT Fashion link up and hope to see you soon!

    • Jodie Filogomo

It just goes to show that I’m a little late on the silver shoe bandwagon!! But I’m here now and absolutely loving them!!

  • Thanks for linking up to Top of the World Style.

  • Amy D. Christensen

You are right about the silver shoes contrasting with the black pants. In some ways I like this look better than the white pants. Maybe gold shoes with white pants, except gold is not in right now. Ha, ha. Or maybe a pastel color with the white. Anyway, I like these outfit choices and yes I think mom’s kimono wrap works perfectly with the open weaving of her shoes. I really like her outfit. I think all of these are cute. And you are such the creative one with your striped shirt under your short sleeve sweater, then tying it all together with the bright pink scarf. Such good ideas! – Amy

    • Jodie Filogomo

Thanks for such wonderful insight Amy!
I had to wear the striped shirt under that sweater because it was quite chilly that day (I’m not sure if you noticed, but my nose was quite red from the coldness!!). I wondered if it looked silly to be wearing sandals, with a scarf?

  • Trang Do

    Great styles!! Amazing looks!!

    Love from {a lifestyle, fashion, beauty, and food blog}

    • Jodie Filogomo

      Thanks so much!

  • very smart and fashion forward.

    • Jodie Filogomo

      Thanks so much Rena!!

  • You are making me feel like a desperately need a pair of silver sandals for summer!

    • Jodie Filogomo

I admit, I really like mine—just put them on with my maxi skirt!! They also look good (in my opinion) with pink jeans (ooops, now you know Saturday’s theme!!)

  • Mother Daughter

Great looks again. I like the silver with the white myself.

    • Jodie Filogomo

Thanks—that does seem to be the consensus!!
You’ll have to tell me what you think about Saturday’s color!!

  • Silver shoes…I haven’t seen a pair of these in years. I remember having a pair and wishing I could wear them somewhere fancy. Because that is where you wore them. Looking fine ladies!

    • Jodie Filogomo

Ahhh…but see, now everything fancy is fine for formal (like sequins too)!!
I know, I used to have a pair of silver pumps a long time ago, but got rid of them when they wore out. But they’re back!!!
Really any metallic seems to be popular right now!!
      Thanks for reading Michelle!!

  • Carrie @ Curly Crafty Mom

I am more of a gold person and I have a few pairs of gold shoes. Although, these silver shoes look great and I could def. pull some outfits together with them. I just love your cat earrings, I love fun jewelry like that. I am wearing a little storm cloud necklace right now that was in a subscription box. And, I just love those faux leather pants, I have been wanting a pair!

    • Jodie Filogomo

Well shiver me timbers—I don’t have a gold pair of shoes (how can I call myself a fashion blogger, right?) and you have more than one (the flip flops don’t really count) But I bet all of the metallics are kinda the same….a shiny neutral that should pretty much work with anything!
      Thanks for checking in Carrie!!

  • Another “YAY!” or silver shoes.
    Those pleather trousers are fab!

    • Jodie Filogomo

      Thanks Samantha!!

  • PetiteOver40

Three more great looks with silver shoes! This color is so versatile, I think! I have on silver shoes today — silver brogues — with jeans but I’ve worn them with all kinds of other colors.

The little bit of shine on your faux leather pants connects with the silver of your shoes and then you have those cute silver kitty earrings! So cute! All the looks are great! ❤️

    – Sherry

    • Jodie Filogomo

You have silver brogues? I’ve been contemplating getting some especially for the winter months!! And you love them?
Thanks for taking time out of your craziness to even write a comment let alone read my posts, Sherry!

      • PetiteOver40

I love your posts! They let my mind think of other things — things I enjoy thinking about. 🙂

And I do have silver brogues! They’re Cole Haan Zerograndes. I wear them all the time — I have them on now! They look like oxfords but are built like a sneaker!

        • Jodie Filogomo

Ok—I found them at Lane Crawford (which I’ve never heard of) for $280. Would it be rude to ask if you paid something like this? Or where did you get yours?

          • PetiteOver40

It’s not rude at all! That price is about right for full-price Zerograndes, but the ones I’m wearing are available at for about $135 and you can find them on sale at from time to time. Here’s a link to the shoes:

          • Jodie Filogomo

Ooooh…the website is having a sale right now and I’m actually thinking of getting the marbled silver ones….did you get your normal size? I vary between a 7 and 7.5, but thought maybe with socks I’d go with the 7.5. And you say they are comfy—because some of the reviews didn’t like them (of course–that’s normal)

          • PetiteOver40

I did get my normal size! I am a pretty solid size 6 and that’s what I have in these shoes. I wear them with and without (thin) socks.

  • Great post I also prefer the silver shoes with the white trousers like Judy! x

    • Jodie Filogomo

They certainly blend in better, huh?
I wonder if it would have made a difference if I’d gone with lighter tops for all of us?

      • I think the outfits are perfect as they are no changes needed, maybe my last comment came across wrong… the colours are lovely! And I love the dark pants I just felt that the silver shoes stood out more next to the white pants. I especially love Nancy’s outfit today. xx

        • Jodie Filogomo

I didn’t take your comment wrong at all, Gemma!
That’s why I love to hear comments, because it gives me ideas of how to style something differently. It’s funny, because when I look in the mirror at my outfits, they seem okay. Yet then when I see them on the computer, there are times, I think what? It’s definitely been a great learning process!
I really appreciate you taking the time to comment Gemma!!

          • You know I can totally relate to that as I do the same! I think that is all part of looking at pictures of yourself. We can all be over critical when it comes to looking at our own pics. I think you all dress really nice. x

          • Jodie Filogomo

Thanks—that’s very nice. We certainly try!!

  • Judy Gramith

I’m amazed to realize that I actually prefer the silver shoes with the white pants! I recall that everyone thought silver was the “new neutral” and can be paired with all colors but some how I like the more uniterrupted line they create with white ( and probably all pastels).
I remember reading somewhere that your shoe color should loosely replicate your haircolor. On the other hand ,you all have light hair and Nancy and your mom have “silver” hair. Maybe they should be wearing silver shoes all the time???
Yikes! Maybe that’s why we break fashion rules!!
You all look very pretty. Your earrings are darling Jodie! If you don’t have a sterling silver, jewelry polishing cloth I highly recommend them for daily maintenance.

    • Jodie Filogomo

I love your observations Judy! So I think you might like Saturday’s color that I paired with the shoes…
I’ve heard that too about the bookending your shoe color with your hair color. Maybe we should start a trend where we temporarily dye our hair daily to match our shoes? Ha ha!
I do have a jewelry polishing cloth, and I tried that first on my earrings, but it hardly made a dent. Is that because I should be doing it daily? I can honestly say that probably won’t happen…. I know my mom keep some of her silver in little cloth bags, but if I do that, I forget I have them and then never wear them.

      • Judy Gramith

I’m dyeing my hair navy blue to match my shoes to my Memorial Day outfit.
        (SO FUNNY!)
Definitely not cleaning my silver daily!
I also agree that what I can’t see won’t be worn. You know those little packets that come in the pockets of leather jackets and handbags? I stick those in with my sterling silver stuff!

        • Jodie Filogomo

Really—those things help keep the tarnish away? I’m trying that —dang and I always throw those things out! Guess I need to shop–ha ha!
But I’m going to kiss you if it works!!

          • Judy Gramith

Well the silica in them keeps moisture at bay. They don’t perform miracles but they help.
Then you just give whatever your going to wear a quick touch up with the treated cloths.

          • Jodie Filogomo

Thanks so much for this tip Judy!! (my jewelry thanks you too!!)

  • I just scored an amazing dress at Goodwill yesterday. I think silver or gray shoes would look great with it. I’m going to check out some of the shoes you featured. Thanks for doing the work for me! 😉

    • Jodie Filogomo

I can’t wait to see what you come up with…I posted 8 different silver shoes on facebook yesterday too ( if that helps??
Do you shop everyday? We actually just popped into the Salvation Army store by our house last night—Rob even like it because it was so neat and uncluttered!! And amazingly, I didn’t buy anything!

      • I actually don’t shop that often….well, except for this weekend. All the major thrift stores are having 50% off sales for Memorial Day. I’m on the hunt for cute, casual dresses! Wish me luck! I’ll go checkout your FB link. Thanks! 🙂

        • Jodie Filogomo

This is what I know (and love about you)….you’ll find a bunch of cute dresses, but then you’ll take most of them back (ha ha)!!

  • Love the silver shoes and the earrings are so cute!!

    • Jodie Filogomo

Thanks Jaymie!! The earrings look so much better now that I used the Tarnex on them—I think I better use it on a bunch of others I have that are tarnished!!
