Spring Graduation for the 50’s, 60’s, & 70’s: The Ceremony

Quote of the day: “There’s nothing as liberating as getting to that point of knowing who you are and who you want to be. It’s only when you embrace yourself in entirety, from the frayed edges to the smooth lines, then and only then, can you aspire to be the best that you can be.” Jacqueline Oby-Ikocha

May and June are the most common months for graduations and their celebrations, so I thought I’d post this subject with plenty of time for any of you who might need some inspiration. Much of the decision of what to wear will depend on the weather (duh) and where the graduation ceremony is being held. When I was a graduating high schooler (long, long time ago) we just had our ceremony in the high school gymnasium. Now, however, I hear of commemorations being held outside at different venues! Thus, location details could be extremely important in your choosing of footwear and layers! I tried to show variations of formality by having me wearing a skirt, Nancy wearing pants & mom wearing a dress.

70’s Outfit: Mom was dismayed I had her put a belt on this dress, as she’s never worn it that way before. It’s good to try new things, right?

Finding great dresses under $100 that would work for this function was relatively easy—and think of how versatile these could be….weddings, parties, dates!!
