Styling a pink jean jacket outfit to look modern

Styling a Pink Jean Jacket Outfit as Inspiration from Grease

A pink jean jacket outfit is a great variation on the denim blue jean jacket look that we see everywhere. For this shoot, we happened to be attending a drive in movie, so Lesley was inspired by the movie Grease to wear this outfit. She’s calling it “A Pink Lady turns 70.”

Quote of the day: “My mother told me to be a lady. And for her, that meant be your own person, be independent.” Ruth Bader Ginsburg

Maybe you remember that Lesley has a blue version of this jacket that she never wears. But add a fun color to the item, and now it’s a favorite.
Actually Lesley said she likes this pink denim jacket better than the blue one just because of the fit.

Insider tip: Fit is SO important yet finding something off the rack and expecting it to fit your unique body is silly. Alterations are the way to make your wardrobe be the best it can be and enable you to have a wonderful closet. I’ve written about the easy to do alterations whether you do it yourself or have someone do it for you. It’s worth the time and money.
BTW, you shouldn’t complain if you can’t find clothes to fit you off the rack. Everyone’s bodies are SO different. There is no way a company can make that many sizes. And you shouldn’t be mad at your body that the clothes don’t fit your body. Your body is what it is. You just have to change the clothing with alterations to make it good for you.

As for the inspiration from the movie Grease, Lesley remembers having it on VHS. She laughs that she doesn’t have the figure of a Rizzo or Sandy (from the movie) but even a 70 year old can be hot and Pink Ladyish!
Charlotte wore an outfit inspired by the actual movie we saw, and I wore a comfy outfit.

Pink jean jacket outfit with a neck scarf

If you’ve seen the movie or google Pink Ladies, then you’ll notice that they wear the black “hot pants” of the time. Therefore Lesley put on her Go2 compression leggings and a longer white shirt.
You may remember that this is her basic uniform when she’s lounging around the house too. One reason is because of the great pockets they have so you can carry your phone around easily from room to room.

Insider tip: Having your top hang lower than your jacket is a modern style. It adds some stepped layering to the look.

What Goes with a Pink Jean Jacket?

I love how Lesley added a neck scarf not only as inspiration from the movie, but also as a wonderful accessory. These small scarves are perfect either around the neck or even on your purse handle.

Insider tip: A neck scarf can act as a great way to add a complimentary color near your face if your jacket or top isn’t a great color for your complexion.

I’m sure we all have a black purse in our collection because they are such a basic piece. Yet it’s nice when they have a little fun and sass to them, like this textured one.
In fact, I linked to a couple of other “interesting” black purses below.

Pink sandals for the summer

Summer Sandals

Especially for the summer, it’s so fun to have bright colors on your feet. While not everyone thinks of pink for a shoe color, you might be surprised at how it adds a lighter vibe to many summer outfits. Especially when we are talking about a pink jean jacket outfit.

Insider tip: A light pink pair of shoes can be very versatile. Many light pinks will look like a nude and then you can wear it with everything.

Pink jean jacket for a drive in movie

Lesley’s History with Drive In Movies

When Lesley was growing up, they went to drive in movies a lot. It was the only way her parents could see a movie. Paying for 5 kids or a babysitter was too expensive. Thus the pillows, blankets and kids were loaded into the back of the station wagon, and off they went.
She wasn’t allowed to go to a drive in with a “boy” until she was a senior in high school. LOL!

Lesley was saying that she misses the drive ins and thinks that a great part of Americana is lost to the generation behind us without them.
If you missed my email information about the one we attended on this evening, it was a great way to see a movie with the 6 foot separation rules. Possibly they will come back in vogue?

My Goal

Thank you for visiting my space on the internet. I like to showcase how it’s never too late to look great for women of any age, size or working with any budget.
I feel I’m here to help move beyond the fashion rules of yesterday and evolve. Style and clothes are made to give you joy. Not cause us stress because we are worried about what other’s think.

My hope is that you get ideas and inspirations from Charlotte, Lesley and myself. It’s not about copying what we wear, but about using what you already have and updating items along the way.
Most of all it’s getting us to think differently and dare I say, have fun?
