Styling Sneaker Outfits with a Dress
Quote of the day: “The attitude of kindness is everyday stuff like a great pair of sneakers. Not frilly. Not fancy. Just plain and comfortable.” Barbara Johnson
This is exactly how kindness should be. Yet I might disagree with the plain part of sneakers. I love how the footwear nowadays can be fun and fancy.
While I had my mom style her sneaker outfit to match her pants, and Nancy to contrast, I decided to go a whole different avenue. Or see us all together.
And since I introduced you to Lisa earlier this week, I’d like to have you meet another blogger today, Susanne. I’ll give you the scoop at the bottom of the post.

If you know me well, then you know I adore color. So when I tried on this dress on a recent shopping excursion, I figured it was meant to be.
Besides the fact, that it had ruffles which I’ve been seeing a lot. Which is why I included that detail in the spring trends post. So why not pair the dress with sneakers?
I’ve tried combining skirts and sneakers before on the blog and it was a mixed reaction. I still don’t have the perfect recipe, but that doesn’t stop me from trying.
Even when I tried on this dress, I knew I’d need a cami or shirt underneath it for modesty. And I don’t mind adding that extra piece since I’m always cold.
This pair of earrings was a great deal from a consignment store a couple of years ago. I love them because they are big, they are tassels, and they are very lightweight. Another fun trend I’m seeing a ton of is these statement earrings.
While I love my really supportive sneakers, I have been extremely surprised that these have been so comfortable. I bought these at Gordmans for $15 last summer. I can wear my orthotics in them, yet they are very comfortable without my orthotics too because of the thicker sole. It’s like it’s built in padding.
And I like that there is some color around the sole, so they aren’t white white.
Maybe I OD’d with tassels in this outfit, but I liked how the purse tassels had so many of the same colors in it that the dress did.
I took this purse on our Alaska cruise because it’s small and compact, yet I can still get my phone in it. I bought it from another blogger’s sale. That’s why her initials are on it. I figure, it’s not that noticeable, and for $5 it was a steal.
While we had a wonderful spring day this day, it did get cloudy and windy when it was time for photos.
Luckily I had thought ahead to put on my biking shorts under the dress, just in case. I did have to hold my skirt down occasionally, but I never felt too exposed.
I met Susanne online when she first started her blog about a year ago. Her blog is not just a fashion blog, but is more of a lifestyle blog. She incorporates recipes, home decor along with fashion and healthy living,
Susanne is an empty nester like many of my friends, and lives in a small town in West Virginia!! I think you’ll love her as much as I do.
Make sure to jump over and check her out, because she’s a wonderful woman.

Pinterest is a powerful way for others to get inspiration and discover new blogs. I’d be so honored if you share my images on your boards.
Even if you wouldn’t consider purchasing your clothing online, it can be helpful to look through my links to see what is available! It certainly doesn’t hurt my feelings, if you click on them but don’t like them. Just so you know, one of the ways I make money from this blog is through these linked items.
