Styling Spring Items Many Different Ways

I found this wonderful woman and we are styling spring items from a couple of her collections. And if you read her about page, then you’ll realize how apropos this quote is for her journey. Not only does Kristin have wonderful items to sell, but her business model is impressive too. It’s a mix between retail and custom and each item is only printed when it’s ordered. Therefore there is no wasted resources. Almost all items are made in a Montreal based community studio, and sourced locally. Thus the carbon footprint is reduced!

I “met” Kristin on Instagram and fell instantly in love with many of her colorful posts. When she posted the skirt I’m wearing in these posts, and I found that it was under $50, I figured I needed it for my spring time fashion. Talk about wonderful surprises, when Kristin sent it to me free of charge with a couple of pieces for my moms. Of course, I was going to wear it for one of my blog posts, but now I get to showcase something for all 3 of us. And I thought all of these items were so perfect for the spring with the flower themes.

Let me give you a little more information about Kristin’s site. Not only does she sell clothing and accessories, but she also has home decor and art in the same amazing prints. On top of that, if someone has a specific color, print, photo, etc. they’d like to have incorporated into a garment or a different clothing design than what she shows, she can usually do that too.

Jodie’s (50+) Outfit: Aren’t there times you see an item and think it was made just for you?

That’s how I felt about this skirt when Kristin posted it on Instagram. I’d been commenting with Kristin back and forth for maybe 6 months or so and have always enjoyed her fun posts. It wasn’t until I saw this skirt that I researched her further and found that she sells items too.

So let me start and tell you a little about the skirt. This is the fit and flare skirt and I’d say it run true to size. I usually wear a small (size 2) and it’s almost too tight? Or am I the only one that notices some pulling across my belly? Granted, I’m up a little in weight, so if you like your clothing a little loose, maybe size up since there is a ton of spandex in it.

Originally I was only going to wear this open shoulder shirt with the skirt. However, the weather got a little colder and windy, so I had to add on a jacket. I always feel that white jackets are the epitome of spring.

For instance the white denim jackets in particular scream spring and summer to me. Or how about one with lace sleeves? There’s also the moto jacket version along with open front jacket all for under $50.

My accessories are all about spring also.

One of my friends just started selling Premier Designs jewelry so I ordered this bracelet. The colors are so pretty and it’ll really go with everything. If by chance you want anything from Premier Designs, and don’t already know a jeweler who sells through them, then Mary Porter Hoang in Colorado would love it if you select her from the list.

This flower purse has been in my collection for over 5 years. I don’t carry it often, but it is a great way to usher in the spring. It’s actually more of a gold color, yet the yellow in the skirt is more yellow-green. However, I think it still works with the outfit, because it’s not like the purse has to match exactly.

The white boots were one of those impulse buys after seeing so many other fashion bloggers embrace them. I opted for the sock bootie version from Target so I could return them easily if I didn’t like them.

But guess what? They are better than sliced bread. One reason is because they are like leggings for your feet. The material is so stretchy that it doesn’t rub or bind anywhere. Macy’s have the same pair also, if you happen to have a Macy’s coupon. And I think that white shoes are going to be huge this spring and summer.

Nancy’s (60+) Outfit: One of the spring items that Kristin sent over was this lovely tote bag.

I saw the same pattern on Kristin’s Instagram as a tank top a couple months ago. The colors are super vibrant and who doesn’t need some more flowers in their life?

Nancy was super creative with her sweater in these photos. She wanted to wear a lightweight sweater since it was supposed to be nice outside, but this particular one has a cowl neck. She wasn’t sure a cowl seemed too springy, so she actually tucked the neck under to make it look more like a crew neck.

I think it’s amazing how changeable some of our clothing can be if we really think about it. I feel that part of my problem is once I know an item is a jacket for example, that’s the only way I think about it. We’ve explored this theme on the blog with clothes and accessories.

This bag might be larger than your normal everyday purse.

However, just think of how it would work so wonderfully for a beach tote, your laptop or even your tote when traveling.

The strap is adjustable so Nancy could wear this as a crossover type. Or she could shorten it to carry it over a shoulder or in her hands.

And let me point out that Nancy is wearing her Jambu sneakers again. I know most of us tend to get neutral color sneakers, but it’s fun to have a pop of color with our shoes when the rest of the outfit is neutral.

In fact, I’m always surprised at how many times Nancy pulls out her orange sandals. Orange is such a great color for the spring and summer. And there are many different varieties of shoes that would work. There’s the peep toe flats, the loafers, the kitten heels, along with wedges.

Charlotte’s (80+) Outfit: My mom snagged the scarf that Kristen sent over to us.

I know many of us have a ton of scarves, but my mom at least wears them quite a bit. And she’s always looking for new and different ways to wear them. That’s where this photo came in. She was inspired to try out her new scarf worn this way.

Inspiration for styling spring items scarf

Wearing a scarf like this reminds me of the time I wanted to show off my scarf with my little black dress. I liked how it really puts the focus on the scarf, but I felt like I was wearing a bib, ha ha!! For my mom’s version, I notice that the inspiration has his scarf more on one half of his outfit, instead of the entire front.

When you have such a lovely print scarf, this is certainly one way to give it the attention it deserves. And if you hate to keep fussing with it, there’s the fashion tape option to keep it in place.

My mom took the colors of this scarf which are light blue and burgundy and wore them in her outfit.

For those of you who love to match in your outfits, this is one way to get inspiration for what to wear on a daily basis. Even if you don’t style the scarf this way, it would work.

The three of us have worn light blue with burgundy in the past.

It may not be a usual color combination that you put together, but I think it’s a perfect blend of spring and winter.

My mom recently picked up this pair of velvet jeans at Target recently. For those of you who are always looking for dressier pants to wear in the winter, this could be the perfect item and time to get them.

Many stores have these on sale right now. This pair comes in different colors depending on your size, while this pair is a more relaxed fit but only comes in bronze. Then this pair is wide legged and even is available in black.
