Summer Outfit Ideas for a Party
Finding summer outfit ideas for a summer party can vary from very fancy to casual. Yet this summer party was a send off for mom, Rob and I and I’ll tell you more about it later this week. Therefore, all of us decided to dress up and enjoy the day.
Quote of the day: “No man’s opinions are better than his information.” Robert Lenzner
I always wonder what spurs on someone’s quote like this. I’m sure Robert wasn’t referring to clothing or style. Yet I feel like it has merit in that too. Because many of us have an opinion about certain styles without even trying them. I’ve been very guilty of this in the past. More on that below.
We weren’t the only ones at the party. I showed you Stacy’s outfit earlier, and I’ll share mine with a little rebellious spirit. I’m also talking about the party itself which was SO heartwarming.

Charlotte’s Summer Outfit Ideas
Summer seems like such the perfect time for color. Whether you like the brights or pastels, or both, I think these colors are great for any kind of summer get together.
And of course, this outfit if full of Charlotte’s “me-mades” (thanks Neti for that fabulous term for my mom’s creations).
First, let me start off with her pink accessories. This purse is what I’d call vintage and from an antique shop back in Toledo, Ohio. It did have a little malfunction at the end of the day where the handle detatched!! But knowing my mother, she’ll figure out how to fix it as opposed to giving it away.
Maybe you can see her watch in these close up photos? She has a Gucci watch from years ago, where you can change the bezel. Needless to say she has bezels in almost every color offered. So today’s bezel color of choice was pink to match the outfit.
This sheer top has been featured on the blog last year. She made all three of us matching blouses like this. Each of ours is a tidge different. Mom’s is long sleeved, Nancy’s sleeves are just past the elbow and mine is short sleeved.
And I’m sure it won’t surprise you to know that this was curtain fabric. Just call us the kids from Sound of Music!
My mom only has these types of sunglasses. If you can’t tell, they are ones that go over her existing glasses. She has one pair in the car, and one pair she takes with us on our blog photo shoots.
The whole idea of putting a pair over your glasses is genius I think. And this variety looks much better than how I’ve seen my friend, Em, do it before…LOL! There are a couple of versions if you’re interested here and here.
Even my mom’s shoes are thrifted. I know many of my friends don’t love the idea of already worn shoes. But considering my mom rarely wears shoes without hosiery or socks, then it’s not a biggie.
Yes, my mom is wearing sheer hose even though it was 90 degrees outside. She’s just more comfortable that way!
The skirt was part of a suit that my mom made for Easter many moons ago. The jacket got too tight and I’m shocked to say she purged it. Which really does surprise me because she has been known to let seams out to make them bigger in the past.
But it’s all good right considering all that she’s going through and purging in our upcoming move to AZ. At least it’s one less thing she has to get rid of now, LOL!
