The T-Shirt Makeover with Different Scarves

The T-Shirt Makeover with Different Scarves

Quote of the day: “The miracle is this: The more we share…the more we have.” Leonard Nimoy

As a continuation of the theme to enhance the look of your favorite t-shirt, I’ll pair it with a scarf for this post.  Now the scarf doesn’t change the shaping of this boxy t-shirt, but it certainly pulls the focal point of your look up and away from your middle trunk area!

There are many lightweight scarves if you think wearing a scarf wold be too hot around your neck in the warmer months.  The same t-shirt for each of us was shown paired with a jacket too.

Jodie’s (50+) Outfit:  I love the tassels on the end of this scarf—they are such a fun embellishment.  I wrapped the ends of the scarf around itself so that it would look more like a necklace!

Nancy’s (60+) Outfit: This scarf is wider than Nancy likes, thus we twisted it so it doesn’t overpower her! We opted for smaller earrings so they wouldn’t compete with the scarf.

Charlotte’s (70+) Outfit::  This is one of the simplier ways to wear a scarf, and yet shows off the wonderful colors beautifully.  The pants are a seersucker pattern, yet look almost like a solid in this photo.

Wearing a t-shirt doesn’t mean you have to be boring or sloppy. The addition of a scarf can make your outfit shine.

Thanks to you all!   Does wearing a scarf with a t-shirt seem silly?

Here’s a great selection of print scarves to add interest to your plain t-shirt (all under $25):

  • Kathleen McDermott

What’s not to like here? All cute looks. You could all trade scarves and look equally good! I do ❤️ scarves of all types. Best accessory ever?

    • Jodie Filogomo

I almost think there are two kind of women when it comes to scarves—the ones that love them and the ones that never think to wear them. Yet they are so versatile….
Thus the question is, how do we convert those other women? 🙂

      • Kathleen McDermott

I don’t know! I’m mystified! There are so many kinds of scarves. How can you not like any of them? I love them all. While I have many of the scarf styles that are currently popular, I have all my scarves from decades age that still make a great addition to an outfit.

        • Jodie Filogomo

Well, I just know many women (Nancy included) that has them but won’t wear them (except when I style her in them). We were just discussing this the other day, and she can’t tell me why. It’s maybe just not a habit. But trust me—I’m very persistent. Maybe in a couple of years, she’ll be different?? We’ll see!

          • Kathleen McDermott

You’re funny. (Like the river grinding away the stones?). Seriously, I think everyone has certain comfort requirements. I don’t like turtlenecks or anything that binds me at the neck, though I loved them when I was young. I have to have an open neck. But, a scarf loosely draped or wound is fine for me. P.S. Nancy looks so cute in the scarves – I’d never guess it wasn’t natural for her.

I don’t think wearing a scarf with a T shirt is silly at all. It adds some polish and elevates a basic look. I like a jacket too, though it is unrealistic in the summer. I am happy to find you from The Leisure Link!

    • Thanks Michele. I laugh because I have a jacket on tonight….I’m always cold and it’s raining & cold here tonight (you’d never know it was July)!!!

  • Scarves are such a great way to get some flattering colour around your face, especially if you wear a lot of neutrals and black like I do! Lovely post, and lovely models. xx

  • Isn’t that so true? A scarf can make a t-shirt look so chic! Great looks! Thanks so much for sharing with Fun Fashion Friday and hope your weekend rocks!
    Dawn Lucy

    • I hope our weekend rocks too (we’re trying to sell our house)!! Thanks for all the encouragement!!

  • I’ve always been a fan of using scarves to accessorize especially with something as simple as a t-shirt. Thanks for sharing via #MidLifeLuv

  • I love this post because I am convinced that a woman’s desire to be beautiful is timeless, and yet as we age, a lot of ladies feel that the ‘bloom is off the rose’ and sort of seem to give up on trying to do the things that help their beauty (at whatever stage of life they’re in) to shine. A scarf is such a small embellishment to add to an outfit, and yet, on every single model you’ve shown the scarves really help enhance their outfit and allow their beauty to shine through. Awesome job! Keep up the good work!

    • Paula…you just made my day!! That’s exactly what I’m trying to show with my mom & stepmom! And I hear women say they give up and it breaks my heart!! Thanks for the encouragement!

  • I would be embarrassed to admit how many scarves I own! They are so fun to accessorize with. Jodi, I love the jeans you’re wearing, do you have the brand??

    • I don’t think it’s embarrassing to have tons of scarves…they are a perfect accessory and take up very little space (as opposed to cars!!) My jeans are BERock for Express (I thrifted them just recently)—thanks for the nice sentiment!!

  • Such beautiful ladies! You look like your having a lot of fun!

  • Great post!
    Mademoiselle Coconath

  • As a self declared scarf addict, I love the idea of a scarf to jazz up a tshirt, but tend to steer clear of them with our hot summers…I see this on others and dream of it , but always give up the idea. I love the looks!

    • I hear you, but I’m always freezing inside air-conditioned offices (and grocery stores)!!!

  • Neat that you use your mom as a model! Love that! I can’t wear scarves, but they look great on all y’all.
    Here from Leisure Link.

  • The way I’m going I’m going to end up with a house full of scarves. I love ’em, especially in the winter when they give you extra warmth around the neck. Love all three of these ones.

    • But at least they’re small and mushable! And, hey, you can even decorate with them—so it’s a good thing!!

  • This is awesome! It just goes to show how classic, timeless, and universal style really is. A scarf, simple tee, and jeans are closet essentials! 🙂

  • Hey cutie! It’ is amazing how a scarf can add flair and polish to an otherwise plain outfit! Thanks for adding your awesomeness to the #funsummerfinds linkup!

    Shellie @ShellieBowdoin

    • I so agree! Scarves are really a necessity in life! (at least my life!)

  • All of these scarves are so pretty. For some reason I rarely wear scarves, I don’t know why!

    • I didn’t really wear them much before I retired. I certainly couldn’t wear them with patients, and I wasn’t in the habit. Now I truly love them!

  • I love scarfs. They bring such a fresh look to anything you wear. Great color combinations.
    Thanks for sharing them.

    • Thanks Debbie! I’ve just recently started wearing scarves more and find them ever so versatile!!

  • These all look great. I save my scarves for winter otherwise I would be flashing the whole time. I live in tees, too! Thanks for linking this on #TheLeisureLink!

    • I totally understand about the flashing, but especially in the mornings here in Denver, it can be downright cold!! Next year I’ll do a t-shirt with necklace post–those are cooler!

  • Enjoyed your scarves and pictures. I am not one for accessories.

    • Interesting….are they too annoying? To me the t-shirt by itself seems so plain otherwise!

      • My T-shrits have images on them usually flowers andanimals. Scarves would take away from the picture.

  • Beth

I think it pulls the outfit together and makes it look more polished and styled. Print scarves are great with a solid tee and bottoms. Options are very affordable too. Good job!

  • I’m a HUGE fan of scarves and all three of you are rockin’ it! The star look? Girl, it’s you!!!! You look awesome in this outfit. I’d have to say it’s one of my all time faves!

    • Really…you’re way too nice because I look at that picture and think: my t-shirt’s too tight, my hair’s a mess and mom & Nancy always look better! But thanks for the pick me up….you make me feel good!

      • I only speak the truth…just like you!

        • Ok…you win (as I always say we’re way too critical of ourselves)…thanks for the reminder!
