Tenaz Athletics for 3 Generations of Women

Tenaz Athletics Shirt for Various Activities

I know that even when we are working out or being active, we all still want to look our best. And by best, I don’t mean you have to pile on the makeup and jewelry, but you want to be covered and not overheat. That’s the idea behind the Tenaz Athletics Shirt. These shirts have a 4 way stretch, mesh 3/4 length sleeve to keep your arms covered, yet they are made of a breathable fabric so you stay cool!

When Jacqui asked if I would like to feature her shirts on my blog, I thought many of you might be interested in these! We were gifted 2 shirts for this purpose, and my mom and Nancy modeled the same shirt. Since athleisure wear is quite popular even when out in public, I wanted to show the three of us doing 3 different activities in our Tenaz Athletics shirts!

And there’s a 30% discount for my readers! Add Friend30 to you checkout and you’ll receive 30% off and free shipping!!

Jodie’s (50+) Outfit: So if you are ever walking around Clement Park Pond, this is what you’d see me wearing.

No makeup, my hair pulled back, my jeans and tennis shoes! Of course, I had to stretch before I started walking. Heck, these muscles have been dormant since I’ve been sitting at the computer so much, LOL! It felt so good to get out and move!!

Athletic Wear with Tenaz Athletics

I ordered the black and white version of the Tenaz Athletic Shirt for myself.

I love the idea of the different color down the sides to give some interest to the shirt. The shirts themselves are pretty true to size. I’m wearing a small, so you should go by the measurements they provide!

Women over 50 with Tenaz athletic wear

The v-neck style of shirt is a little more covered in the back.

You can see below how the mesh only extends to the shoulder blade area. Whereas for the scoop neck version shirt, the mesh comes in further, so the opaque portion is more of a “t.”

Nancy’s (60+) Outfit: I had Nancy wear her Tenaz Athletics shirt with her leggings as she would for her Pilates class.

Since the shirt is black, then it really goes with most of Nancy’s workout leggings!

Tenaz Athletics for pilates

Nancy was commenting on what a nice view it was while we were outside as her Pilates classes are always indoors.

Especially when I had her on the foam roller and she was looking up at the sky! Rob & I attended a couple of outdoor yoga events last summer, and it was quite refreshing to be outside for them!!

Women over 60 Working out with Tenaz Athletics

Nancy’s wearing some print leggings and yoga/pilates socks.

I know you can’t really see the socks that well, but they have that rubber addition on the bottom so you don’t slip. The other interesting detail is that each toe is individual.

Since the leggings are black, white and yellow, we purposely grabbed the blue socks to bring out the blue seaming of the shirt!  Colorful and fit, what more could you ask for?

Charlotte’s (70+) Outfit: I had my mom style her Tenaz Athletics Shirt for a day of running errands!

My mom does work out three times a week with a 5 mile walking DVD, but she does it out of her house. How else do you think she stays so healthy & trim?? Therefore, I thought it’d be appropriate to show how you could wear these shirts for everyday!

Tenaz Athletics Wear and women over 70

Since black is not the most flattering color on my mom, I had her wear a mint colored scarf near her face.

This Tenaz shirt has turquoise accent stitching along the sides in the front and the back! I like this idea of an accent color, because it makes it easy to pull out this color in the rest of your outfit.

We ended up tucking in the shirt, because it was somewhat too long.

If you are petite, and like to keep your shirts untucked, then you might need to have it shortened!! Nancy is showing the shirt in its full length, if you are interested.

  • I love all of the wonderful styles created using this terrific activewear. The addition of the scarf for your lovely Mother is inspired. Pinned ( you already know I featured wink) xo

  • Fun detailing on these athletic shirts make them a cut above workout wear with the piping, sheer sleeves and flattering fit. You gals all look fit and trim and ready to take on life.

    • I admit I don’t usually think about how I look when I work out, but I guess it should be no different than going to the store! I’m in public, right?? These shirts really are nice, and it’s also great to support the small businesses!!
      Thanks Leslie!

  • Loving these athletic shirts, Jodie! I headed straight to the website and am debating on colors right now. Thanks for the info! You all look fabulous in the shirts, btw!

    • Thanks Mary!! I really think they are perfect for us!!

  • I Love cute workout wear! It motivates me to work out more – lol. It was fun to read about the types of exercises. It is more fun to go outside in my opinion, too. I like the styles of each of these shirts, as well as the longer lengths. Since I am normally in leggings or form fitting shorts I prefer something with a bit more coverage. I enjoyed the introduction to this company.

Thanks for linking up with Fabulous Friday!

Jennie – A Pocketful of Polka Dots

    • You are so right about motivating me, but I’m bad about spending much on my work out gear!! I need to remember it’s no different than looking nice when I run errands, etc!!
      Thanks Jennie!

  • Terri Webster Schrandt

Just had to come back and comment that I bought the shirt as modeled by you, Jodie! It’s gorgeous. Tenaz is based in San Diego (my home town) and I’m going to try to work out a partnership with them relating to fitness.

    • How perfect for you, Terri!! I just want you to know I’m working on a field trip to our local reservoir with the moms for our upcoming posts!!

  • Carol Cameleon

I do like the one you’re wearing. Very stylish and I love the sheer sleeves too. Great idea. And thanks for linking up to #HighlightsofHappy

    • Thanks Carol!! I never thought of sheer sleeves for workout wear, but really, it’s quite smart!!

  • Love this athleisure pieces! I can see these tops being so comfy and I love the cool details.

  • Great looking shirt, but I love those purple shoes! Thanks for linking on Mondays @ Soul Survival.

    • Thanks Donna!! Might as well have fun shoes when you are exercising, right?

  • This is great! Athletic gear is geared (ha) towards the younger set and there is a whole untapped market for those of us who are older and still very much active. Great post!

    • Aren’t you a funny girl, Elle?? Because our age is just our state of mind, right?

  • Anna Marcus

Jodie, I would never think of wearing a sport top outside the gym or running track but yet here is your mom looking cool and stylish wearing it with regular clothes. I also do Pilates and was so impressed to see Nancy all dressed up for it.

    • I know exactly what you mean, Anna!! My gym clothes are usually reserved for the gym! But then again, it looks like a regular shirt when you pair it with normal clothes, I think!!

  • These tops are seriously SO cute!! Love the mesh sleeves – it gives them such an edgy little feel. Hope you’re having a good weekend!

    Black Coffee Beautiful

    • Thanks Laura!! I’ve only just discovered that mesh in my friend. I think it used to remind me too much of the 80’s!!

  • Amazing post!

  • Dawn Lucy

Looks cute on every one of you! Thanks for linking up with Fun Fashion Friday & have a wonderful holiday weekend!

    Dawn Lucy

  • You three ladies look amazing. I love these styles 🙂

  • dan

You three girls look really cute in active-wearing ! The shirts are comfortable for sport and very cool on you…of course, everyone of you added a personal touch: matching socks, a nice neck-scarf or a pair of modern sunglasses…Great!!

  • You are all cute every time in various costumes, but Nancy is just precious in this styling. Maybe it’s the socks that match the piping in the shirt as well as the leggings. I think it’s her sweet spirit in taking part with enthusiasm.

    • Isn’t she the best, Jean?? And the props that go with it, just make everything so real, I think!!!

  • These tops are so cute! I love the sleeves. Your mom looks adorable with her neck scarf 🙂 Have a great holiday weekend!

  • I am always on the hunt for cute/comfy active wear! It’s surprisingly not always that easy to find (or maybe I’m just really picky). But I love the shirts you ladies are modeling! And Nancy’s leggings are so cool! I want a pair of those too. 🙂

Hope you’re all having a great week!

    • It’s good to be picky for this detail, Lindsey!! I mean, I will not always worry about “comfort, per se” when hanging out. But being active is totally different!!

  • Karen Anderson

I’m late to this one, I’m used to you posting on Fridays! : )
I like the different ways you styled these great shirts. I LOVE the sleeves! The piping and color-blocking is also very flattering! Nancy’s leggings are great! Your mom has the athleisure look nailed with her outfit. I am just wondering if her 5-mile walking workouts are Leslie Sansone? I do them 4 days a week in my living room, different distances, and just love her. When you said walking in her home, I thought that just might be it! You are so right about being outside for exercise (never mind I was just promoting walking in the living room!!). I’m headed to a park when I leave work today for just that reason, just to be outside enjoying the weather! Good for Nancy doing pilates and keeping limber. I know as we age it’s important for all of us to remain flexible to avoid falling apart the older we get! You’re right about sitting, not a good thing for the muscles (again, thus Leslie Sansone when I get home from work in the evenings!)

    • Hey Karen!! I did change up my schedule this week, since we were heading out of town on Friday!! I always feel bad when I can’t respond as promptly as I like to, so I figured Thursday might be a little better!!
I’m forwarding this comment to both mom & Nancy—thanks so much for including them in your wonderful thoughts and words!! Hopefully mom will let you know if it is Leslie’s workouts because I don’t remember!!!

    • Charlotte Miller

Hi Karen, Yes it is Leslie Sansone’s tape that I use. I wore out the the 3 mile tape, then the 5 mile tape, so now I’m using the 5 Mega Mile tape. I always do them inside since I have allergies. So very important at this age.

  • Looking great ladies! Love the way you showed that these weren’t strictly for athletics!

    • Thanks Melissa!!
I love it when we can make out clothing way more versatile—so why not with our workout wear too??

  • Love how you ladies styled your tops! Tenaz just sent me one that arrived yesterday and I can’t wait to try it out! Love the scarf in your hair Jodie! Have a fun weekend! Peace!

    • Jacqui Hook

@disqus_piHGFikLzf:disqus, can’t wait to see you in your Tenáz Top! Be sure to mention the 30%/free shipping discount with code FRIEND30! Have a spectacular weekend!

    • You’ll wear it perfectly Cheryl!! And get a ton of use out of it, since you’re always hiking outside!!

  • I love the mesh sleeves! It’s a really nice detail, as well as the little colour down the sides. Gorgeous! This would be great for yoga in the cooler weather!
    Suzy xx

    • You are so right Suzy!!
      Thanks for the kind words!!

  • Nicole Mölders

Great work outlooks. The advantage of ballroom dancing as work out is, you can wear makeup. Thanks for linking up to the Top of the World Style linkup party.

    • Ha!! Now that’s a fabulous way to look at dancing, Nicole!!
Besides, it’s not only a workout for your body, it’s also for your brain, I bet??

  • Caitlin

You ladies are making me want to work out right now!

Beauty & Colour | Vegan Lifestyle Blog

    • Me too, Caitlin!! It’s be good for both of us, LOL!!

  • Love that you added that scarf, gave it a bit more something to look at. As always great styling everyone!

    • Thanks Sarah—my mom always feels the need to cover her decolletage anyway, so it was a win-win for both of us!!

  • It was a great idea to add that scarf for your mum. It’s fab how a scarf can make such a difference to an outfit. Thank you for linking up to #ablogginggoodtime 🎉

    • Thanks Catie!!
I say the same thing all the time—for such a small piece of material, it can do wonders!!

  • Kris Ronchetti

I too love the shirts and you all looked great…I think it is time to check out the Tenaz site. I like to support small business. Thanks

    • I’m so glad to hear you say that Kris!! We don’t realize that we can truly affect another person so easily this way!! Not the the large companies aren’t made of people, but the small businesses are people just like us!!

  • Judy Gramith

I love the shirts and you gals look fit, sporty and fashionable in your shirts. I will definitely be checking out the Tenaz site!

    • Thanks Jude!! They are really nice shirts!! I can see I’ll be wearing it a ton (and so will Nancy!!)

    • Jacqui Hook

Thanks, @judygramith:disqus. Please let me know if you have questions and don’t forget to use discount code FRIEND30 at checkout. Best wishes!

  • fashionistha
  • I’m probably the most reluctant person to want to invest in workout clothes, so it’s nice when you can see them being stylish enough to wear as regular clothes too!

    • That is so me, Lydia!! And I should realize that looking nice can make a difference of how you feel! But when all you are going to do is sweat in them, I just didn’t see the point! LOL!
Considering that’s how some women feel about normal clothes–I guess it would be smart to invest a little in my workout clothes since it’s part of my health??

  • Such cool athletic tops! I really love the sheer sleeves on all of them!

    • Thanks Michelle—it’s nice to be covered at times, but still cool!

  • Amy D. Christensen

What cute shirts to work out in. I’m with you, Jodie. My favorite activity is walking. I love that you showed how you could style the top for running errands, on your Mom. Great looks for all three of you. Have a great weekend! – Amy

    • Walking is always fun because then Rob & I can talk about the day & plan!!
When we were riding bikes, it was too hard to communicate (except the time we rented a tandem bike)!!
      Thanks Amy!!

  • What a diversity of styles! Love them all. I like the mesh on your shirt.

  • Rebecca Saffer

All three of you look wonderful and ready to tackle your exercise programs with style and fun. Keeping active at any stage of life is so important and I am so happy that after a knee replacement surgery and revision surgery (5 months later!), I am back to being active. In NYC, we tend to walk everywhere and to carry a lot with us (groceries, etc.). Now I see how you three maintain your lovely figures!

    • I bet you’re glad to be up and normal again, Rebecca!! It’s the worst to feel limited, I think!!
That’s exactly why I love NYC so much—you can just walk anywhere!! The funny thing was when we first started visiting—we’d come home and I’d say, “let walk to” (wherever we were going), and it’s totally different here in the suburbs!!

  • Terri Webster Schrandt

Jodie! This post must have subliminally been in my mind when we were e-mailing back and forth! I love these shirts (this fine mesh is very flattering but covers well)! All of you look wonderful and interpreted the theme perfectly! Ooooh and I see in the comment below that Jacqui offers a discount! Checking it out now!

    • Terri Webster Schrandt

I just bought one of their shirts (I went with the one you modeled 🙂

      • Jacqui Hook

Hi, @Terri@terriwebsterschrandt:disqus. Just received your order. Will ship today. So glad you love the top. Wear it in good health and with a bright smile! Best wishes!

      • That’s so fabulous Terri!! I bet you’ll get a ton of wear from it with your active lifestyle!! Maybe we should both wear them in August? 🙂

  • Carrie @ Curly Crafty Mom

I think my favorite is the pink in this shirt! But, I love pink. 🙂 I really could use a shirt like this, plus it’d protect my arms from some of the sun. I love how your mom dressed the shirt up, especially with the cute neckerchief! You ladies always do such an amazing job styling pieces!

    • I would have never thought to wear “workout” clothes besides at the gym years ago—but these especially look nice!! Besides, they even look better than some t-shirts!!
Thanks for always being so positive about our posts, Carrie!! I really appreciate it!

  • Jacqui Hook

    • Ah…thanks Jacqui—I’ll add that to the post right now!!

      • Jacqui Hook

        Wonderful! Thank you. xoxo

  • Great shirts! I love the sheer sleeves! And you did a fabulous job again styling them different ways!

    Andrea’s Wellness Notes

    • Thanks Andrea!! I used to only thing that workout wear was for the gym, but there are such nice ones out there now…

  • How pretty are these! LOVE the sheer mesh sleeves…a very pretty way to hide my pizza arms 🙃

    • I’ve never heard them called pizza arms, Em???? Hilarious!!!

  • donnanance

Nice workout wear! Now you’re just making the rest of us look bad…ha! Hubs and I took our blood sugar this morning and boy, do we need to up the exercise. I have a sign hanging in my entryway that says “Does running late count as exercise?” Have a splendid day! xoxo

    • OMG—I love that sign, Donna!!
I used to be so good about working out, but both Rob & I have gotten lazy lately!!
Both mom & Nancy are so much better about having a schedule!!

  • Jonet Gleason Wooten

This is workout wear with fashion power. Love it, you all look amazing.

    Xo Jonet

    • Thanks Jonet!! Might as well look good, as we are working out to look better, right?

    • Jacqui Hook

“Workout wear with fashion power.” Love that, @Jonet@jonetgleasonwooten:disqus. Great tag line. All the best!

  • Styled to run errands, with those sheer sleeves, it’s kind of sexy! #GoMom It’s really a cute shirt!

    • Well, you know my mom—-she’s one hot lady!!!

  • Rebecca Phillips

The Tenant tops fit well and are flattering. Pinned!

  • Cathy Lawdanski

Nice tops. And looks like they are designed with the midlife woman in mind. I wore a tank to the gym like all the “young girls” do one time and felt totally naked. Never again! And I just bought a couple of new workout tops at Macy’s on sale. The regular price on those were at the same price point or higher than the Tenaz shirts. Loved Nancy’s top with her leggings!

    • Lynn Huggins Spivey

I agree Cathy – tanks are not for me!!! I don’t tan (I’m a redhead), so I like the idea of the sleeves on these Tenaz tops.

      • I’m 100% with you….after years of sunbathing, I have to be so careful now!!
        Thanks Lynn!

      • Jacqui Hook

Hi, @lynnhugginsspivey:disqus . Just so you know, although the tops do not have anti-UV fabric, they do give pretty good protection. Recently, I was outside all day wearing my Tenáz Top and had forgotten to put on my sunscreen. My chest got quite sunburned but my arms did not! Best wishes.

    • I totally know what you mean, Cathy! It’s not like I want to overheat, but I’m just not used to be so exposed anymore!!

  • This is amazing! And they’re stylish too 🙂

    xx Alyssa // STYLE VANITY

  • Great post and this top looks amazing. I love to wear this kind of top when I’m walking too. Gemma x

    • That’s because you are one smart cookie, Gemma!!
