The Best of the Best for 2022

I appreciate each and every share. Thank you!

I have been blogging for over 8 years now so it’s fun to look back at the stats to see which articles have been popular.

Quote of the day: “Even castles in the sky can do with a fresh coat of paint.” Haruki Murakami

While I love creating inspiration for women, I don’t often look at my statistics like a good blogger should. But since it’s the end of the year, I thought I’d see which articles had the most traffic. The first 6 are those that are at the top of the list and they are all from years past (except the last one) which I titled the Best of the Best.
This most likely means that people were googling the subject and found the articles that way.

What this doesn’t mean is they liked what they read, LOL! But I have learned that being a people pleaser is the last thing on my to-do list.

Then I also included my most popular articles from 2022. I hope you join me for a trip down memory lane!

Insider tip: The title in blue AND the photo should be linked so you can click on them to peruse the older posts. Many of them I have tried to update with better grammar and or newer links if you are looking to purchase anything.

Best of the Best

Easy & Real 50th School Reunion Outfit Ideas

This has been the most Googled post for the year which goes to show that the 50th high school reunion is an event that we wonder what the heck we should wear to it.
In this post, Lesley recreated the outfit that she really wore to her 50th high school reunion.

How Not to Look Frumpy: Viewpoints and Simple Examples By Millennials and Midlifers

Everyone wants to look their best. And the word frumpy is one used by many to describe how we don’t want to look. So it’s no surprise that this has been a popular post from 2020 that I have since updated with photos from our site.

Insider information: One of my friends was discussing how there are times we don’t mind being invisible but when she analyzes that thought, she realizes that it’s a slippery slope to not caring how we look. And how we look really affects how we feel. Thanks, Rena, for such a wonderful insight. Rena can be found at the Fine…Whatever site.

How to Wear Wide-Leg Pants

We can see how many women are wondering how to style the new wide-leg pants silhouette. This post included 2 different wide-leg pants styled in 5 different outfits. And I still have and wear both pairs of pants.

I have come to the conclusion that the drape of wide-leg pants can affect how we feel about them.

Wearing Hair Accessories with Lilla Rose

Lilla Rose is a hair accessory company that has become a favorite of mine. You would think that with short hair, you wouldn’t wear these accessories, but I see no reason not to include them.

In fact, I’ve talked about a couple of other examples of how to wear different hair items with a pixie hair cut.

Insider tip: Many headbands are too tight after a couple of hours, which is one advantage of the Lilla Rose brand. The reasons? They are adjustable, go around your entire head, and sized for your skull. No, I don’t get a commission from these. They are just something I really like.

What to Wear to a Funeral

You can tell that this is an oldie since it includes my stepmom, Nancy, who still lives in Denver. Funerals are another one of those events that we wonder about the dress code.

What I have found in real life is that many women tend to wear pants as they get older. That is why we styled more ideas in a newer article.

The Ultimate Benefits of Thrifting

This post was written in 2022, but it was in the top 6 of the best of the best for this year. So I included it in this portion.
I would consider the three of us expert thrift shoppers. Not that we don’t make mistakes; however, we always seem to find wonderful treasures.

In this post, I didn’t just share our outfits and some history of thrifting for each of us. I also shared 8 benefits of secondhand shopping. #6 is something that has saved my butt many times.

One advantage to signing up for the emails is I do link to older posts occasionally. Even though they were published earlier, many still have important information. In addition to the free eBook, my email family gets personal tidbits of what’s going on in my life along with other happenings, sales, information, giveaways, extra photos, and interesting articles.

Best of 2022

And now a look back at 2022. These may not have been around as long as the best of the best, but they certainly created some buzz.

10 Useful Cardigan Tricks Take It From Ho-Hum to Stylish

This is something that is near and dear to my heart. Making a clothing item work when it originally seemed wonky or wrong.
I have to thank my friend, Susan for suggesting this idea, and I even included her problematic piece and solution in the article.

Remember: We are the boss of our clothes. Just because it was made a certain way doesn’t mean we can’t change it up.

How to Wear Wide-Leg Cropped Pants: Stylishly for Petites

This blog post went viral (viral is a subjective term, and for me, that meant that over 6000 people saw it in a day) from Microsoft’s explorer page.
There were many comments on Microsoft’s page that were not very favorable. But as I always say, personal style is called that for a reason: IT IS PERSONAL. And the three of us love these pants, especially in our hot, hot, hot summers.

I wasn’t really trying to promote this product from Old Navy, but it is a wonderful example of how Old Navy can be fabulous even for older women. There are a couple of these pants remaining in limited sizes and colors, so if you’re looking for a year-end deal, I’d recommend them.

Scarf Organization Ideas: Fundamentals Simplified

It’s almost embarrassing how many scarves I have collected, but at least I wear them. And I think being able to see the clothing/accessories we have makes it more successful to remember them and thus incorporate them into our looks.

I stole this organization idea from another influencer but if it doesn’t work for you, I also shared my previous method and collaborated with another blogger for ideas.

Multiple Reasons to Keep Your Skinny Jeans

Another concept that is near and dear to my heart is the fact that women of any size and any age can look fabulous. I love it when other women join us for blog photos.
The other idea that I believe in is that we can make almost anything look stylish. So whether you still love skinny jeans or are ready for new silhouettes, I think they can have a place in our closet for the years to come.

How to Wear Print Tights to Show Off Your Tantalizing Personality

If you live where it gets chilly, then tights are something that I would consider essential. And not just plain, black tights. Why not incorporate some fun into our tights game?

In this article, I showcased 3 different methods of incorporating print tights into your looks. Now, these ideas would also work with colorful tights.

Insider tip: Don’t forget you could also wear your workout leggings as tights.

8+ Colorful Looks: What To Wear With Cowboy Boots

Footwear can make or break an outfit, I believe. So I was elated when cowboy boots were considered trendy again. Not that I didn’t wear my cowboy boots before this, but it’s nice when the style rolls around again.

I wore 3 different varieties of cowboy boots in this article, and 2 of them were thrifted.

Thank you

Another way to support my blog it’s the idea of giving someone a tip for good service or information without having to buy a product.

My Goal

Thank you for visiting my space on the internet. I like to showcase how it’s never too late to look great for women of any age, size, or working with any size budget.

My hope is that you get ideas and inspiration from Charlotte, Lesley, and myself. It’s not about copying what we wear, but about using what you already have and updating items along the way.
Most of all it’s getting us to think differently and dare I say, have fun.

Welcome to Jodie’s Touch of Style. I’m here to prove that it’s never too late to look great. Clothing and style are meant to showcase your inner personality. So let’s have fun and try new things.
