Holiday Styles for 4 Generations From Nancy’s Perspective
It’s that time again when Sherry, from Petite Over 40, is joining us in a Fab Collab. This time we’re going to take you back to our holiday memories and the clothing we wore for the occasion. If you missed the earlier versions, you can see Sherry’s (the 40’s model) history here, and Jodie’s (the 50’s model) story here.
Nancy’s Story about her Christmas Picture Memories
One of our family traditions ever since I was married to Jodie’s father was to go to the Figgy Pudding Party at our church. It is a concert of Christmas music and fun dialogues with a delicious dessert during the intermission made by our host or hostess, who happens to be performing in the program. It is always the first weekend in December and is a perfect way to start off the Christmas season and gets us into the holiday spirit. Needless to say, they don’t serve figgy pudding at the party. They tried the first couple of years, but it went over like a lead balloon! But the name stuck!
We always dress up in our holiday finery to add to the wonderful mood of the evening. We often invite guests to join us, as is the case in this photo which was taken quite a few years ago as you can see by some of the different looks of the three ‘models’ in the picture. I am front and center with the red, sparkly Christmas sweater on. Man, my hair was quite short. Jodie (the 50’s model) is in the front on the right. The year had to be 2013, so don’t let her tell you she stopped wearing Christmas sweaters before that! And then Charlotte (the 70’s model) is in black right behind Jodie. That was before Charlotte had let the grey reside in her hair!
Jodie always brings her camera so we can document all of our gatherings and I love having these photos to relive so many wonderful moments.
Nancy’s (60’s) Present Day Outfit: Since Nancy’s story was focused on the Figgy Pudding Party, I decided to have her recreate what she wore this year for the event!
As we’ve heard time and time again, leggings can be worn by any aged woman!! I feel like these were definitely a great way to showcase this fun sweater. The earrings are the perfect bling & color for Christmastime!!
The sweater actually has this very subtle sparkle in it (just on the front portion), but I couldn’t seem to show it in the photographs. I love how Nancy used a snowflake brooch in the middle of her collar!
And the different orientations of the ribbing pattern on the front of the tunic is so very flattering and slimming!
Wasn’t it so nice of Mother Nature to decorate the evergreen trees for our photos? It’s like a winter wonderland!
Leggings: Cold Water Creek(similar here)~~Tunic: Alfani (similar here with a funnel neck and here with a cowl in a darker red)~~Turtleneck: Daisy Fuentes (similar here)~~Boots: Kelly & Katie (similar here)~~Brooch: (similar here in silver)~~Earrings: (similar here in a star shape)
Feel free to share your Christmas outfit memories—it makes my day to hear other people’s stories!
