Turtlenecks for the 50’s, 60’s, 70’s: With Accessories
Quote of the day: “The most important things in life aren’t things.” Anthony J. D’Angelo
The turtleneck discussion continues with donning the turtleneck as clothing for the top half of your body. An important pointer for this is to make sure your garment is still in tip top shape–since it usually gets worn under other items of clothing, we don’t always notice the stains, pilling and thinning of material. This might be a good time to update your selection. Considering turtlenecks are a basic piece of clothing that is simpler to fit than pants, this is one item of clothing that can easily get ordered online. At www.15each.co every piece of clothing is only $15 (did I tell you I was thrifty?). Some pieces are new (end of the season, etc…) and some are gently used (think of it as borrowing your friend’s clothes!)
And then since that turtleneck is a blank slate, I recommend adding accessories to create a better presentation!
See Styling Discussion 1 for layering your turtleneck under a shirt!
50’s Turtleneck: This is a perfect time to layer your necklaces. I actually have 4 different necklaces on this turtleneck! For more inspiration see my fellow blogger’s post “How to Layer Necklaces”. Notice how I did combine silver & gold….it is perfectly acceptable to mix metals now! This is a fun project…try layering them at home and when you find combos that you really like, take a picture of it and keep the picture with your jewelry so you remember the grouping for later!

60’s Turtleneck: Since Nancy’s turtleneck is the epitome of neutral, adding a printed scarf gives the outfit some personality! And if your silk scarf won’t stay put, you can always use bobby pins to keep it anchored.

70’s Turtleneck: Here’s one way to wear a scarf that is somewhat fun and different (and no need for any strange knots or twists!) It also tends to elongate your body by drawing the eyes downward!
