The White Blouse for Any Ages: Under Another Blouse

The white blouse can be so versatile. And today we are experimenting with wearing it with another blouse.

The above quote is something I feel like I say over and over. And I’m sure that most of the women reading this agree. Now how do we get the rest of the population to join in? Speaking of joining in, I hope you take a minutes to join in the Fierce 50 Movement on Facebook! It’s not just for bloggers, or even a certain age group! It’s really all about women supporting women no matter what the number says!!

Quote of the day: “I love the psychology behind what we wear and how it makes us feel. It’s sort of common logic that when you feel good and you look good, you might perform better.” Monica Corcoran Harel

And we were lucky enough to have Amy of Stylin’ Granny Mama join us for the adventure! If you haven’t ever seen her blog before, you should check it out since she’s in the same age range as myself! The fun doesn’t end there—one of our regular blogettes, Jude, decided to show us her interpretation too!!

The 3 of us wore our white blouse under a t-shirt to start the theme off earlier in the week, here! After that I tried to get creative by layering it under a sleeveless shirt, here–with good reason, I must admit!

There are certainly more ways to style this long, loved blouse. But for the here and now, I chose layering it under another long sleeved blouse. As we’ve discussed before, I could be considered crazy—why in the heck would you want 2 blouses on top of each other? You could make me feel better by telling me you’ve done this before?

Amy’s Outfit: This is why I love having other women join in with their photos! You can see how we all can make it so different even though it’s the same idea! Amy belted her white blouse under the longer, outer blouse!! Doesn’t that look great?

Jude (blogette): Jude is like me and loves her embroidery detailing!! And no, she didn’t know what I was wearing—isn’t that funny? Her blouse is actually more cream in color, but it’s the idea of layering blouse over blouse that intrigues me!!

Jodie’s (50’s) Outfit: Well one good reason for wearing your white blouse under another blouse could be if the other blouse is more sheer! This leaf embroidered blouse was a great deal at Anthropology a couple of months ago. And while I bought it with the spring season in mind, it’s definitely a little sheer without anything under it. I’ll probably need to wear a cami under it even once it warms up!

I wanted to get a closeup of the embroidery on the shirt. This embroidery detailing is on my love list, because it adds so much interest to a clothing item.

Then I also wanted to add in some darker accessories since the outfit was so bright. Of course, half the time you really can’t see my earrings since my hair is all over the place, ha ha!

The embroidered blouse got tied in the front in a knot. I tried tucking it in at first, but for some reason it didn’t look as good. But don’t I look ready for spring in this outfit? Of course, to us here in Denver, that means bring on the snow storms! LOL!

Nancy’s (60’s) Outfit: Another great reason to wear 2 blouses layered could be if the one on top doesn’t close as nicely by itself. This is the case with Nancy’s striped blouse. It’s one of those that just doesn’t lay right when it’s buttoned up. We all have a shirt or two like that, right?

But it’s such a pretty blouse, that it seems a shame to give it away. So layering this kind of blouse over other items can work wonders!!

I had Nancy wear two necklaces in this look, although you really don’t notice the silver chain under the white blouse very much. The earrings are a black stud, and help bring out the black stripes in the shirt.

Since Nancy was wearing her lace up shoes with the jeans, I had her roll up the jeans to show them off. I’m not sure if you’ve noticed, but many stores are showing a cropped flare leg on pants for the warmer months, and this is where I got the idea.

Charlotte’s (70’s) Outfit: For mom’s blouse over top of her white blouse, I chose her chambray one. We styled a series about the chambray shirt last year here, here & here. Although if you look closely, this denim shirt is a different one fro the one worn in that series. Let’s just say mom has a couple of everything!! LOL!

While we were out in the neighborhood taking photos, her neighbor (Thanks Dave!!) offered us to wear his turquoise belt & bracelet. And who would say no to that?? This belt is quite the heavy piece, as you can see, the turquoise is all around the front and back!

You know that I rarely do a monochromatic look for any of us, but I figured I’d keep the rest of the outfit relatively subdued so the belt could be the star of the show!

Of course we added in some of mom’s turquoise earrings. And I wanted a more neutral shoe for the outfit. Blush pink is quite popular right now, so that was my reasoning for these shoes!!
