Unusual Color Block Top Styled 4 Ways with Alembika

I’m showing this Alembika brand color block top styled many ways in order to introduce you to this woman owned brand. My ideas about it’s never too late, really correlates with this brand’s ideas and mottos, so I thought it would be great to share.

Quote of the day: “The glory of creation is in its infinite diversity.” Gene Roodenberry

Styling anything more than one way is one of my superpowers. Although it’s not rocket science, and hopefully the more I show you how I do it, then you can have fun with these ideas too. It always seems like you get more money’s worth out of the pieces you wear over and over. Granted you can wear them the same way, with the same color combinations. But why not switch it up for variety?
I also included other color combinations with the top to hopefully make you realize it’s more versatile than you would think.

First let me give you a little background about this color block top and Alembika. They reached out to me to work with their new website launch on Instagram only. I was not asked to share this on my blog. Yet, the company is one that is very inspirational, so I thought you should know more about them.

Alembika

Let me be upfront about how I work with companies. I always check them out before I say yes and at this stage of the game, I do charge for my time and energy to put together any kind of content. It’s really a form of marketing for a company.
For this website launch for Alembika, I created an Instagram reel (which you can see here) for a fee. And that was the end of the collaboration. I do hope to work with them again because of who they are and what they represent.

Let me share their thoughts: “Alembika is a woman owned business and proud to create clothes that fit petite to plus sizes, for every woman at any age.
We accept you the way you are.
At Alembika we would like you to feel comfortable with your body.
Not the body you’re working on, fantasizing about, or wish to have.
The one you have right now.”

There is more on their site, but you get the idea!! Now their items cost more than my usual thrift store things. But as much as I believe in being thrifty, I also believe in supporting the inspirational companies. It’s no different than how I purchase new items from Naomi and Ruth (as I’ve showcased here).

I do have a discount code, JODIE50 for $50 off your purchase on the Alembika website. But even if you aren’t ready to purchase, I do hope you’ll explore their site and see how their creations are pieces of art!!
To me, most of the prints and clothing are ones that encourage you to be an individual instead of looking like everyone else. FYI, there are a lot of black and white prints for those of you who don’t love color as much as I do.

Insider tip: Most of their items run oversized. For the collaboration, I was sent the sample size which is a medium. For outfits #4 & 5 after the site was launched, I was sent my normal XS. It’s still oversized, but not as voluminous.

Wearing a color block top with leggings

Wear this Color Block Top as a Tunic

Since this top is more oversized, it pairs well with leggings. I wore it over black leggings and added in black booties to match.

As a Jacket

Any button up top can always be worn unbuttoned as a jacket. For the above examples, I wore it over a denim dress!

Tie up the front of an oversized top

Tie It Up

Another easy trick with most tops is to create a knot or somehow tie it up. I always think that an asymmetrical detail can add interest to your looks!
I wore this here with a medium wash pair of straight leg jeans.

Insider tip: While I just tied the ends of this color block top, you can also practice my handy dandy trick of using an elastic band or hair elastic depending how thick the material is.

Belt It

I’ve been experimenting more and more with my belt collection. Some days I feel like it’s so neglected, LOL! You may have seen this outfit in last week’s weekly wrap up post where I showcase my daily looks.
This time I belted the color block top over another column of color.

Other Colors

Even though this particular top is quite colorful, that doesn’t mean you are limited on what you can wear with it.
I showcased this Alembika top with white, yellow and grey also.

If you explore their site, I would love to know some of your favorite pieces. The mix print kimono, the cheetah blouse, and urban appliqued tee are very fun also.

Insider tip: This brand can be found at some high end boutiques. There is a page that shows the retailers near you if you’d like to see some in person.
Also, most of their items are limited in quantity, so the popular pieces sell out fast. In fact, my shirt is now only available in 2 sizes.
