Why You Should Have Many Dresses in your Closet
Even though our society has become more casual, I feel it’s still a fabulous idea to have a variety of different dresses in your wardrobe. I think a dress is so much easier to style because you have the upper & lower portion of your clothing already picked out! Sure, you still have to put on a pair of shoes, and sometimes a jacket, but it’s still one and done! And considering all the different events many of us end up attending each summer, that’s exactly why you should have a variety of dresses in your closet!

Jodie’s (50’s) VIPme Outfit: You may have noticed that blush is the color of the season. So when I saw this bodycon dress, I thought it’s time to step outside my box.
I’ve never entertained the thought that I should wear a tight dress since I was brought up very modestly. However, I felt like the ruching on this dress would make it feel more comfortable to me. It’s also not too short and it has nice coverage over my bra straps.
I added my silver sneakers to this look because we were on the way to Target for some errands, and I wanted to be comfortable.
The three of us all styled sneakers with skirts the other day, here. The post was definitely popular among those who can’t wear heels anymore, so I figured it’d be fun to keep trying this trend.
So let me give you a little information about this dress.
It’s very hard to see in my photos, but there is a sparkle in the dress material. You can see it better on VIPme’s site if you put your mouse over the image for a close up! The sparkle may make you think that this dress is only for fancy occasions, but I really wanted to show that it could be made casual with a leather jacket over it and the sneakers!
For my sizing, I decided to go up a size so it wouldn’t be quite so tight. And I think it’s perfect. I’ve really learned to go by their size guide and also evaluate the material of the piece. Since this piece is stretchy, I knew there would be some give, but I didn’t want it like a second skin!

Nancy’s (60’s) VIPme Outfit: I chose this bright green dress for Nancy for a few reasons.
I think this color is perfect for the spring and summer and it’s fabulously bright against her grey hair! The other reason is that Nancy doesn’t have anything like it already in her closet!
It’s the details that give it so much interest! There is a ruffle sleeve on the right side only, and then the hi-low hem.
I did consider that if Nancy didn’t like the hi-low hem, or in the case when it becomes out of style, that I could change it to an even hemline.
And then being a solid colored dress, it’s a perfect canvas for any statement necklace or even a scarf! That’s also why we paired her floral heels with the dress! But her nude or rose gold heels would have looked wonderful too!
Didn’t the wind come along at just the right time, and blow out the back hem of Nancy’s dress so nicely?
There’s not a lot to tell you about this dress that you can’t see in the photos. Except that there is a zipper on the side so it’s relatively easy to get in and out of.
I ordered the size Nancy usually gets and it fits great. VIPme doesn’t yet give the lengths of their items on the website, so it certainly looks much shorter on their model. Nancy is 5’0″ and it works good for her. There is a tiny button & elastic on the back of the neck to hold it together which is hard to use because the button is square. Therefore, I switched out the button to a hook for Nancy to be able to close it herself!

Charlotte’s (70’s) VIPme Outfit: I knew this teal color would look fabulous with my mom’s complexion!
And, of course, she wanted to wear either blue or green shoes with it. However, I think adding in the pops of orange with the shoes, purse & earrings adds so much more fun to this look! Just think of the other possibilities that would be fun for the spring or summer. Yellow, blush, bright pink or even coral?
I truly think this dress would work for so many different occasions.
You could easily add in some flat sandals for a casual brunch, or slide on some heels for a fancier dinner! Just think of how stunning this would look with silver heels!!
Of course I might be partial to this dress because it reminds me of the first one I received from this company about a year ago!
So let me give you the low down about this particular dress!
I ordered this in the size my mom would normally wear, and it looks fabulous. If you like your dresses a little tighter, I think you could probably size down in this dress . There isn’t any zippers or openings however, so you need to be able to put it on over your head. I tend to err on the side of too big, since it’s much easier to alter an item to make it smaller.
But I think it’s lovely for us older women, The sleeves are sheer, so they are covered but not really! And the sheer top portion is longer over the under solid color portion, which gives it such nice movement and flow. My mom is 5’4″ and the under portion ends right at her knees, which might seem short by itself. However, the sheer portion that is over top really takes all of the attention.

So adding another dress to you closet is what I’d consider a smart idea. Heck, with all of the graduation parties, weddings, and fun events coming up, it’s nice to be prepared!
