Wearing Feminine Sneakers for a Baseball Game
As women, it’s nice to find more feminine sneakers that are comfortable. While the “dad sneaker” was a trend for a second, it’s not everyone’s favorite. So let’s give a shout out to other styles.

This is the second post in our collaboration with Jambu this spring. If you haven’t tried Jambu shoes, the company is merging function and style. What this means to you is you can benefit from a 20% discount with the code Jodies20. The details about what this collaboration entailed are below.
Charlotte and Feminine Sneakers
Pants: Mom made them ~~ Top: Mom made it~~ Shoes: Jambu c/o~~ Necklace: Mom made it~~ Cap: Cruise Club~~ Earrings: ~~ Purse: no label
Feminine is definitely a great description for my mother. Her style is definitely more girly and dressed up. In fact outing at the spring training game was just her second baseball game ever. Granted she grew up in Indiana where life revolved around basketball instead of baseball. I’ll tell you more about her first ever baseball game below.
Insider tip: Pink is a great color to bring a feminine flair to anything. And don’t forget there is a shade of pink for everyone.
It’s a Mom Made it Outfit
Knowing that my mother is a creative queen, then it won’t surprise you that she not only made the pants and top but also the necklace.
The pants are a pair that my mom made for her Uganda trip over 15 years ago. They are very lightweight so they’d be cooler for the heat.
As for the top, she copied this off one from Coldwater Creek about 5 years ago. It was a boatneck version but she made hers so her bra straps wouldn’t show. That’s definitely an advantage of making your own clothing.
Insider tip: There are other ways to keep your bra straps from showing depending on the top. One is the fashion tape that is basically double stick tape. Another is these reusable bra strap concealers. I’ve never tried these but it seems easier than trying to safety pin both sides.
Accessories That Work for Casual Days
Since attending a spring training baseball game is a casual event, we tend to grab our more casual accessories. While I’m always trying to mix up those categories, this is one time that it makes sense to stick to the less fancy.
My mom was inspired to make this necklace when she found these small thread spools at a craft store. This was way before Pinterest yet, so many objects can be made into jewelry. In fact, my mom has created bracelets out of buttons before.
Insider tip: Did you know you can search on Pinterest? You don’t have to just scroll through what is presented to you. Maybe that’s obvious, but it wasn’t obvious to me until recently.
As for the baseball cap, if you don’t have a favorite team, then why not have a fun colored one? Just like I’ve pointed out in my Accessory eBook, your hat is right next to your face, so make sure it’s a complimentary color for your complexion.
Jambu’s Rally Feminine Sneakers
Not only did my mom love these Jambu Rally sneakers because they are a Mary Jane style but also because of the other details. The Mary Jane style is good for many reasons. One because Charlotte has a bump on the top of her foot that occasionally rubs on her shoes and is annoying. Therefore because these are so open on the top of her foot, they feel great. And two, the ankle strap keeps the shoes in place nicely. And that strap? It’s velcro adjustable.
This style comes in red, navy and charcoal along with this taupe version. Beware because even though the description says taupe, I’d call it a warm tan instead.
Insider tip: These sneakers also have perforations in the leather, so they are more breathable.
Charlotte’s Feedback about the Jambu Rally Sneakers
My mom absolutely loves these sneakers. They fit her perfectly, and she has no issues walking in them. The color is so neutral that it goes with everything for spring and summer.
One of the things she likes is she considers them dressy enough to be worn with skirts. After our foray with wearing a skirt for an excursion on our Caribbean cruise, I think my mom is worried, I’ll be making her do that again.
The other detail she just loves is the ribbon trim with the pink, animal print.
SPECIAL NEWS: Jambu is also featuring wide widths on many of their styles this spring. You can see all available wide width shoes with this link. Thank you to all who have suggested this feature because if you want something, then you need to make your requests known. This Rally version is available in the same colors for the wide width ones.
Insider tip: Just like I talked about with Lesley’s shoes, if you can imagine your sneakers as another category, you might be more open to wearing them in different ways. Mary Jane shoes are considered a timeless style, and I’m sure my mom will be wearing them with skirts.
Charlotte’s History with Baseball
Back when my mom was first married to my dad (even before I was around), they went to a Mud Hens minor league baseball game. The guy sitting next to my mom was chatting with her until my dad leaned over and asked if he was flirting with my mom. That was an embarrassing moment and my mom doesn’t remember going to another baseball game after that.
