What Color Would You Wear as Part of these Silk Pants Outfits?

This silk pants outfits post is being brought to you as a request by Lesley when I wore these on our Sedona wine trip. One of the first things Lesley said is I’d love to see you wear those 5 ways. She even said she’d love to see them as part of a date night outfit with a black cami. Make sure to see my version below.

Quote of the day: “Failure is not the opposite of success, it’s part of success.” Arianna Huffington

I purchased these pants on Poshmark from my friend Melissa, who we’ve met in person. In many respects they are something that shouldn’t be in my closet. One because they aren’t my “colors” and two because I’m not sure they are “my style.”
Yet, I wanted to challenge myself and try something that pushes me out of my normal box. You tell me what you think.

While I love my recipe for using color combinations that I spoke about last week, I varied it a tad for this post. There are many different colors in this print that look different in different lighting. That’s why I included the pants by themselves in the top photo. And there will be more info about the pants at the end.
Here are the combinations that I came up with:
1-Neutral in the print
2-Neutral NOT in the print
3-Color in the print
4-Color NOT in the print (kinda)
5-Date night

Neutral in the Print for these Silk Pants Outfits

I call this the tan that is in the print of the pants. It’s not my favorite top because it pulls across the girls, and I think this will finally push me to purge it. I used to wear it a lot under my blazers at work.

Details of the outfit

Since I was wearing tan on the top, I added tan with my shoes also.
I kept the necklace smaller and wore my hat (my hair has not been my favorite feature lately).

Insider tip: If you are wondering how my back looks so smooth, it’s because I’m wearing my Shapeez bra (the tankee version). Not only are they smoother but they are my most comfortable bras (“comfortable bra”…isn’t that usually an oxymoron?)
I don’t have a discount or am not “working” with the company at the moment, but I LOVE their products. If you do ever purchase from them, please give my name so they will know the source.

Neutral NOT in the Print

Casual styling with silk pants outfits

The back ground color of the pants is actually a cream color, so you might not think white would work. Yet cream and white are a wonderful color combination and even Huffington post agrees.

Details of the outfit

This is the outfit from styling a v-neck top and how to accessorize it. I wore this outfit on the Sedona wine tour and realized how great the pants were going to be for the hot summers.

The sneakers are Walking Cradles because I knew there would be loads of walking on the tour.

IN FACT, I am hosting a giveaway for Walking Cradles. You could win a FREE PAIR. Go to my Instagram page later today to be entered. If you need help on how to enter these types of giveaways, I wrote a post for that!

Color in the print

Silk pants outfits for summer

Blush pink really could be considered a neutral many times. In fact, I like blush pink shoes instead of a “nude” because the color is warmer.

Details of the outfit

This top was one from my thrift box that I tried out years ago. I wore my blush sandals with it and my pink purse.

Insider tip: Don’t be afraid to “paint” your costume jewelry. These earrings used to be bronze color and you couldn’t see them against my brown hair. So I used white fingernail polish to make them contrast better.
This DIY works great on earrings because they don’t have the chance to rub off the polish like a bracelet would.

Color NOT in the print (kinda)

Silk pants outfits for everyday

I say kinda because the dark denim is the color that’s not in the print. Yet, I only wore it for one of the photos, because it was just too hot. I needed it for inside the doctor’s office though.
Again, denim could be considered a neutral but for this example we will call it color.

Details of the outfit

I cheated with this outfit in the fact that the light blue is a color in the print. But I did knit the sweater which you can read more about in this Instagram post.
The shoes are my Walking Cradles Kendra version. I also have the Avery which looks exactly the same but is a lower heel height. You can see both versions in my Instagram post where you can win a FREE pair of Walking Cradles.

Date Night

Showing midriff for middle aged women

In my color combination categories for my kimono outfit, the final one was print mixing. For these pants, I wanted to use Lesley’s suggestion of date night.
But if you did want to categorize this, it would be both a neutral and color that aren’t in the print. The burgundy of the sweater is close to the darker red in the print, but it’s not exact.

Insider tip: This is a perfect example of why you shouldn’t stress to much to “match” the colors in your clothes. Close enough works just as good.

Details of the outfit

I didn’t have a black cami like Lesley suggested, but I did wear my Shapeez cami bra. Since it was date night, I figured it was the perfect time to show off some midriff.
The funny thing is Rob hadn’t even noticed until I pulled up the sweater. Probably because my skin matches the pants so well, LOL!

Here’s another sweater that I hand knitted. If you like seeing more details, visit the Instagram post here.

Silk Pants Outfits

The hotter weather certainly has us pulling out shorts, capris or even palazzo pants, but now I’m convinced I need more silk/satin pants like these. They are SO lightweight and they didn’t wrinkle.
At first I was worried these were pajama bottoms but the hook and zipper closure at the top relieved that fear. Besides, they have pockets. THEN again, what if they were pajama bottoms? Who would know if you dressed them up nicely?

The pants themselves are a Zara brand yet I couldn’t find a tag stating the material. So they may not be silk per se but possibly a blend. Which is another point. Don’t get caught up in the material. As long as it works for you, that makes it perfect.
While many people think of silk as “dressy,” I hope I’ve showed how you could make the material work for casual outfits too.
