I always love the challenge of taking a “summer” item and making it work for other seasons. So that brought up the idea of styling white pant outfits for fall. There are so many ways we could make this work, and today we decided to pair them with autumn prints.
I’ll share some other great ideas towards the bottom of the article if you want other thoughts.
Quote of the day: “You will do foolish things, but do them with enthusiasm.” Sidonie-Gabrielle Colette
It just seems sad to me that many clothes can’t be worn for more of the year. Sure, I understand why we don’t wear our heavy clothing in summer, but with layering, we can certainly take our summer items into other seasons.
Why not get more mileage out of our clothes? It’s smart, sustainable, and stylish.
This isn’t the first time that we have showcased this concept:
–White dresses for fall
–Tank tops in winter
–Wearing a maxi dress in winter
When I say, “stop categorizing your clothes”, this is the same thing.
Or “Be the boss of your clothes”, another similar idea.
It all boils down to the fact that using our imagination can make our closets more versatile and our wallets bigger.

So join me and my crew as we take a “fall print” and combine it with our white pant outfits.
My emails are my way to share fun and positive content with you from all of the sites I visit during the week. Sure, you also get my free eBook when you sign up, but that’s not the best part.
The best part is you get a daily dose of positive energy.

1. Valerie: Animal Print
Valerie is giving us a masterclass in how to instantly fall-ify your white pant outfits. She paired hers with an animal print topper, which is basically a fall neutral, as talked about in the fall trends for 2025 article.
I love that her animal print is not just a neutral snakeskin, but an orange snakeskin print.
Notice how her long, flowy vest adds both movement and texture without being bulky. The colors are a big factor in echoing the hues we associate with falling leaves.
Then she gives a nod to the still warm temperatures with her sandals and the fact that the topper is sleeveless.

Details:
-Notice how Valerie shortened her tank top by threading the pointed corners of the top and vest through sarong buckles. Not only does this shorten the tank, but keeps the tank and topper together.
-Her necklace is adjusted with ribbon, and it hangs down the back of her topper from the rear view.

2. Jodie: Plaid
Plaid is practically the pumpkin spice latte of fall fashion, right? There are so many variations of plaid, so I grabbed a houndstooth print vest that my mom sewed for me AGES ago and paired it with a lace halftee.
This combo gives that menswear-inspired vibe but with a feminine twist. I wanted something that felt fall-appropriate without being predictable, and layering is always an easy way to accomplish that.
I even added more plaid with Rob’s cap that I “borrowed.” Then I added green accents with my accessories and extras.

Details:
-I feel like I’m a conglomerate of sentimental items: the necklace was Lesley’s mom’s, the vest is from over 20 years ago and made by my mom (it even has her handmade label in it), and then the bee charm on my purse was a gift from Mireille.
-Cow print is such a whimsical print, which is why I had to buy these shoes. They don’t have much arch support, so I added my Soul Insoles to them.
-I was inspired to use my lace Halftee under the vest after seeing Bo style this same idea. BTW, use code Jtouch20 on anything on the Halftee site.

3. Lesley: Dark Florals
You might think florals are reserved for spring, but the dark florals are a perfect fall print that goes well with white pant outfits.
The lighter pants pop the colors of the darker florals. It’s all about how the contrast keeps the outfit lively rather than too heavy, and it shows how versatile white can be.
Her brown oxfords are another great nod to autumn. The color, the style, and everything.

Details:
-This was not the purse Lesley was going to use for our photo shoot, but it looks fabulous anyway. Even though it’s straw and gives off a summer vibe, it melds well with the color scheme. It’s not much different than Valerie and her sleeveless vest and sandals. Not all items have to be from the same season.
-Funny story per Lesley: “I fell in love with all the wonderful colors in this top. But it hung in my closet, forgotten and unworn. On a later shopping adventure, I found a great kimono/long sweater type jacket and bought it. When I hung it in my closet, I realized it was the EXACT same print.”

4. Charlotte: Graphic Print in Fall Colors
My mom chose to wear a graphic print with our white pant outfits. Again, it’s the color scheme that makes you think of the fall season.
She layered the blouse over a cobalt blue top (another reminder that you don’t have to stick to “muted” shades in the fall) and tied the ends with a clear elastic to keep them open and tamed.

Details:
-To hold up her sleeves, I had these hair elastics that worked for the issue.
-If orange isn’t your favorite color, then pair it with a color that you love. For example, blue looks amazing with it.
Why White Pant Outfits Work in Fall
If you’re still hesitant about rocking white pants after Labor Day, let me put it this way: white is just another neutral, like black, navy, or gray. If you’re holding onto the fashion rules from 50 years ago, then you need to change your mindset. Just like how women can have a credit card or own a house now.
Things change, and that’s a good thing.
Using fall prints to make our white pant outfits transition to fall was the concept we showcased today. There are other ways:
- Textures. Certain textures are associated with fall and winter, like quilting, tweed, or suede.
- Classic fall items. There are certain pieces that scream fall like boots and sweaters.
- Fall colors. Rust, mustard, olive, burgundy, and navy all complement white beautifully.
The moral of the story is that an outfit is about more than just ONE piece. It can be transformed by the other elements in the look.

Final Thoughts
Fashion should be fun, not rule-based. And if today’s outfits prove anything, it’s that white pants outfits belong in fall just as much as they do in summer. There are so many ways to make your white pant outfits perfectly autumnal.
I’ve always said that an advantage to white pants when wearing darker colors is that they pop those other colors. So pull them out and keep wearing them.
Because at the end of the day, style is about using what you love in creative ways, all year long.
