Winter Daily Looks in Arizona: Week Ending 12.29.23

I appreciate each and every share. Thank you!

Never let it be said that Arizona is always hot. This week was especially chilly in the mornings when we took Piper for a walk, and that chill just stays with you much of the day.
In fact, I have written about the fallacy of Arizona in winter if you’re interested.

I think you would enjoy it if you signed up for the emails below. Besides the free eBook, my email family gets personal tidbits of what’s going on in my life along with other happenings, sales, information, giveaways, extra photos, and interesting articles.

Saturday

Dress: BCBG Generation~~Sweater: Charming Charlies~~Boots: Journee Collection “Maebry“-pr item

It was time to wear a dress, so I took my sleeveless, striped knit dress and layered over it with a sweater. This is the dress where I discovered how much easier it is to wear a dress like this for airplane travel (explained here).

The sweater was too long proportion-wise, so I used my belt trick (from this video).

I know I’ve been wearing these combat boots a ton, but I like how they make any outfit more modern, they are comfy, PLUS the color lightens up a darker outfit.

You would be right if you thought I had cacti on my earlobes. And I am wearing my faux ponytail because we had rain all day yesterday, so my hair frizzed out.

Sunday

Pants: Old Navy~~Blazer: Old Navy~~Boots: Betsey Johnson

Christmas Eve, I decided to wear my green velvet suit again. You saw it when I showcased this blazer with my friend, Marsha. I know it’ll be a favorite for many years to come. I’m surprised to see the blazer is still in stock although not in petites. But if you are a regular or tall size, you’re in luck.

Even the velvet pants are still available in black and some sizes in green. I wore them with my green/purple ankle booties that have a heel since the pants are a tad long otherwise.

I wore this embellished cardigan buttoned up as a top (as one of my tricks for wearing a cardigan differently). The cardigan is vintage given to me by one of my dental assistants when I was working as a dentist. It’s the brand Neusteters.
Granted, I do have a T-shirt on under it so I won’t have to wash the cardigan as well as for extra warmth.

With the rain we’ve been having, my hair is curlier than usual, so I pulled it back with my faux fur headband and then wore my faux fur earrings.

Merry Christmas

PJ set with robe: Ulivary c/o

Rob wanted to hang out in our pjs on Christmas Day, so I thought this new pj set from Ulivary was ideal. The company has many pjs and kimono robe for women, they are incredibly beautiful. I chose this set because of the feathers on the sleeves and the fact, I can easily wear the cami as a everyday top.

Just wait because the crew will be showcasing how the robes are truly versatile.

Since it’s still chilly outside, I left on my beanie from dog walking and wore these great slippers I bought us all when we went to Prescott. There are a couple of sizes left but only in the grey color.

We are planning on watching Christmas shows on TV for most of the day, and I’ll be using my throw blanket that has “sleeves” so I can knit and stay warm.

Tuesday

Leggings: no label~~Sweatshirt: Sam’s Club~~Boots: Ros (formerly Walking Cradles) “Knox”

Since it’s Tuesday, I’m hiding my Tai Chi outfit in this look. The leggings and sweatshirt are for our Tai Chi class, and then I made it stylish for the rest of the day by throwing on a mini skirt and boots.

You’ve seen these boots last year when I talked about what to wear with taupe boots. I could have worn taller boots if it was colder, but then you wouldn’t see the cute cat leggings as much.

One Christmas years ago, all 4 of us wore these same sweatshirts when showcasing holiday lights in Phoenix.

But the best part of this look is in the title photo with my earrings. My friend, Cathie, knows a woman who creates earrings from a photo of your fur baby. So my earrings are Piper. Isn’t that the best gift?

Wednesday

Dress topper: eShakti~~Boots: Target

This “dress” was one that I found on eShakti using my rewards from almost a year ago. If you get my emails, then you saw what the dress looked like originally. For those of you who always say I can wear anything, here is an example to prove you wrong, LOL.

It was overpowering and just weird. So I cut it down the back and sewed up the ties to make it a kimono. And wore it once. But it was still too much and didn’t look right.

It marinated in my “to-do” pile for months and months. I saw an episode of Mrs. Maisel wearing a very unique topper that I decided to copy.
So I cut off the sleeves, ripped up the seams to create slits, and used snaps to hold it shut.
Now I love it.

I wore it over my navy sweater dress from ages ago (seen in our first funeral outfit ideas). The turquoise belt gave it a pop of color, and then I added my white cowboy boots.

Thursday

Pants: Banana Republic~~Blazer: J Crew-thrifted~~Boots: Journee Collection “Kayden” pr item

I was looking through my “winter” closet and noticed I hadn’t worn this blazer this year. I thought it would be fun over a casual flannel shirt.

The pants don’t make much of a statement, so I thought to add sexy boots.

IN. A. TOTALLY. DIFFERENT. COLOR. Let’s talk about that for a second. Do you realize if you think you need to match everything, then you’re going to spend more money? And be extremely limited in what you can wear.

That’s why it’s smart to throw in a different color, especially with your footwear.

If you have trouble thinking it’s mismatched, then do what I did and add that color in with your accessories. My brooch and bracelet are all that moss green color also.

What you don’t see is my hair bow in the back which is a bright lime green. There’s just no reason not to wear something that doesn’t match colorwise.

Friday

Dress: Shoshanna~~Boots: Macys

This dress was one of the projects in my alterations pile that I was able to whittle down over the holidays. The dress was originally an off-the-shoulder sleeve dress. I wore it to our LA meet-up years ago (you can see me wearing it under the Launch Party paragraph).

I thought it would look more modern without the sleeves, so I removed them. However, because it’s a knit material, the edges curled and looked strange, so I decided to add some trim.

And then, I wanted to wear it right away, so I wore a long-sleeved shirt under it along with my snakeskin boots.

The pendant is really a scarf pin from my friend’s Etsy site, and I just hung it on an old gold necklace.

Thank you
