Flat footwear for older women

Women’s Comfortable Loafers: Remarkable & Chic Flats with Walking Cradles

I appreciate each and every share. Thank you!

Women’s comfortable loafers. 3 simple words yet they can really pack a punch. For those of you who grew up with penny loafers and love a classic, conservative style, then I have the shoes for you.
There are basic options and even some with a flair for those who prefer a little sass in their footwear.

Quote of the day: “We need men who can dream of things that never were.” John F. Kennedy

I know many of you already have tried Walking Cradles shoes and appreciate their selection of women’s comfortable footwear. If you haven’t heard of the company before, then I’ll give you some background about what makes them different from other companies.
I know every older woman yearns for comfortable yet stylish footwear, and Walking Cradles has the shoes for you.

What Makes Walking Cradles Special?

There is more than just one thing that makes Walking Cradles special. Let me count the ways! Once you try them, you realize that they live up to their name.

  • For those women with unusual sizes, Walking Cradles shoes range from sizes 4-13 in narrow to wide-wide. Unfortunately not all styles are available in every color, size, and width. But if you need a certain size, just reach out and let them know.
  • The comfort portion is widely due to the Tiny Pillows insoles found inside every Walking Cradles shoe.
  • All of the footwear is designed by a woman in the company. I bet many of you didn’t know that women’s shoes used to be designed by men– and many still are!
  • They have a wide range of flats, sneakers and dress shoes.
  • There is a loyalty program where you can earn points and get rewards. No purchase necessary to join, click here: https://walkingcradles.com/pages/loyalty

Today, we are talking about the women’s comfortable loafers that Walking Cradles are selling. The loafer trend is one that has been gaining popularity lately, and I know both my mom and Lesley are happy about it. They are classic shoes that bring back wonderful memories from their younger days.

If you are concerned about buying shoes online, Walking Cradles can be found in many major online stores now including Zappos, Nordstrom Rack, The Walking Company, ShoeMall, and DSW. To find a brick-and-mortar retailer in your area, click here for their locator map:  https://walkingcradles.com/apps/store-locator

If you can’t find them at these stores, then search their online shops. And it’s always good to request them when you are at the stores, so the company knows you’re looking for this brand.
Here is their shipping and return policy if you are ordering on Walking Cradle’s site.

The “W” Women’s Comfortable Loafers

All three of the styles we are showcasing are similar yet a little different. If you wonder why they are all called names that start with the letter “W”, here’s something that not everyone knows.

Inside scoop: The base or sole of the shoe is the same on many shoes that start with the same letter. For example, the “Dana” clog and the “Decker” sneaker are both the same base construction, just different uppers. Therefore if you love a certain heel height and sole, make sure to check out the other shoes that start with the same letter.

Charlotte’s Office Look with Leopard Shoes

Charlotte decided to style an outfit that would work for a casual day at work or errands. She wore black pants and a classic, white button-down shirt.

Then she added a short sleeve cardigan to add color to the look. To tie in the leopard loafers, she wore leopard accessories and even a leopard belt.
If you don’t have the exact same print/color as your shoes, don’t worry. This outfit would also look fabulous with a brown or black belt and/or accessories because you are mirroring the colors in the leopard print.

Insider tip: Don’t be afraid of long sleeves under a short sleeve item. Not all layers need to be hidden.

Details of the Wren

One of the advantages of the “Wren”, is the EVA outer sole. This makes the soles lighter and more flexible for even more comfort.

The heel height is only 1 inch tall, which makes them perfect for any day where you are walking. Plus there are the tiny pillows on the insole, which are also removable.

Maybe you don’t notice, but there is elastic on each side of the top line to make them easier to get on and off and gives them stretch so they feel more comfortable when they are on your foot.

Right now the Wren is available in many solids and prints. There is limited stock on these because they have been around a while, but they are a crowd favorite for a reason.

Charlotte’s Review of the Walking Cradles Wren Loafer

My mom has had these shoes for a couple of years now. She showcased them with a print duster that she made at the time when they were first released. The Wren has been such a popular shoe that Walking Cradles has continued to carry them.

BTW, you might recognize these as Lesley has purchased them in both black and navy, and wears them often when we are exploring. You can see them here with her column of black.

My mom states that she has worn these Wren loafers on all types of terrains and never had any problems.

She just can’t say anything bad about these loafers or any of their shoes. In fact, she remembers when her first pair of Walking Cradles sneakers started pulling out at the seam on the one foot, and we sent them back and they remedied the issue right away.

Lesley’s Dressy Look with Loafers

Lesley is very comfortable styling her women’s comfortable loafers with a dress. You might laugh at how similar she and Charlotte look, but I’m sure that’s because birds of a feather flock together.

Lesley wore a black sheath dress with a yellow jacket. She added in leopard with her belt and purse, but the necklace is a brown and yellow bead necklace. It’s a good example of how all of the accessories do not have to match in order to coordinate.
You can also see these shoes styled with shorts on Lesley.

Insider tip: ANY shape woman can wear a belt. Lesley describes herself as a zucchini shape and the belt adds wonderful interest and personality to the look.

Details of the Winnie and Winnie 2

The Winnie and Winnie 2 are both classic penny-loafer style shoes. The Winnie 2 has a tad chunkier sole but only a quarter of an inch, so it’s not very obvious.

They both have that EVA sole which helps with a lighter shoe and a more flexible sole. And they are only an inch heel so they are perfect for those activities where you are walking or standing.

The Winnie 2 is brand new and comes in this almond color nubuck. The original Winnie is available in
1-Bronze
2-Black leather & Croc
3-Zebra/Cheetah print

Women’s Comfortable Loafers with the Winnie 2 Review

Lesley shares her words about these women’s comfortable loafers:

I have a new FAVORITE shoe and it’s no big surprise that it’s from Walking Cradles.  When I first saw the WINNIE 2 displayed on Walking Cradle’s facebook site I wanted a pair. I loved the color and style and knowing WC I knew they would be comfy.  I’ve had house guests & overnight trips for several weeks, so never had a chance to sit down and actually order this shoe. Can you imagine how delighted I was when Jodie wanted my shoe size because Walking Cradles wanted to gift a pair to me for review??? ECSTATIC is the word and I was not disappointed with Winne 2.

When I was in high school I had 3 pairs of shoes (ah-ha that’s why I have so many shoes in my closet now in order to make up for my lack when I was young and impressionable)
Flats, Keds, and Loafers.  Winnie is a classic penny loafer style in soft nubuck leather.  The sole is a bit thicker, but by no means cloddy which is the trend now. Of course, the wonderful Walking Cradles insole bubbles make walking a joy.  The first time I wore these was for an afternoon of walking and exploring Carefree, Az with old friends from high school. There was no pain and much gain as my feet let me know how happy they were.  I didn’t even need to add heel grips, Winnie cradled my heel and kept it from slipping up and down. The neutral color is something I love because it will go with anything and being almost skin tone makes my legs look longER.  ‘Longer’ is a cursed “ER” word in Jodie’s vocabulary, but in this case, it’s a good one.  I see the beginning of a beautiful friendship here, Winnie 2 & me.

How I Style This Pair of Women’s Comfortable Loafers

Since the background of this women’s comfortable loafer is light-colored, I wanted to keep the majority of the outfit also lighter.
You can even see how I wore these same shoes with a white dress on my Saturday outfit.

I wore these same silky joggers with a quilted vest recently and loved how it looked. Therefore, I thought I’d copy the overall vibe here. The llama sweater is a whimsical lightweight sweater and the vest is reversible from faux fur to quilting.

My pops of color are the Gibby’s Scarf (use code Jodie20 for 20% off), earrings, and bracelet that coordinates with the llama’s sunglasses.

THE FUNNIEST THING ABOUT THIS entire photoshoot. Notice that we all are carrying leopard purses!! This was not planned at all, but it’s a great point that they do go with everything.

What is the Wyatt Loafer?

The Wyatt loafer is a classic smoking slipper style with no elastic at the top portion. Instead, it’s open on each side and easy to get in and off.

This style comes in two prints and both are calf hair. Mine is the ivory with mini cheetah print and then there is the camel with mini leopard print.

Again, these only have a one-inch heel height with a special sole that is flexible and lightweight. (It’s called the EVA-lution outsole)

Talking About the Wyatt

While loafers aren’t usually my shoe of choice because I feel like they can be boring. However, with the fun ivory cheetah print on the Wyatt, I knew this matched my style. Needless to say, from the first time I wore them, they feel like comfy shoes I’ve been wearing for years. I’ve never had a “break in” period with any of my Walking Cradles shoes because the leather is always such high quality and they fit my feet so well.

For this pair, I needed to wear my ultra low-cut Sheec socks so they would be hidden. When I first started wearing Walking Cradles shoes, I never wore socks with them. But because my feet would get sweaty, the removable insole would always pull up when I took my foot out of the shoe.
It’s definitely been nicer to find socks that work to stay put, don’t show, and keep my feet dry.
