Ways to change your workout outfits for fall

Fall Athleisure Outfits: Staying Active (and Stylish) All Year Round

I appreciate each and every share. Thank you!

Staying active isn’t just a January resolution thing. Moving our bodies, stretching, walking, dancing, or whatever form of exercise brings us joy, is truly a year-round event. Thus, since we realize that looking good equates with feeling good, it’s important to have fall athleisure outfits to make it even easier to stay motivated!

Quote of the day: “Most people overestimate what they can accomplish in a year and underestimate what they can achieve in a decade.” Tony Robbins

So today, I’m sharing 4 easy ways of how I transitioned my athleisure from summer to fall. It’s not rocket science, and for most of us, we shouldn’t need to buy more things. Grabbing different pieces and layering can be the key.

BTW, our workout class is a yogalates class, which is a combination of yoga and pilates performed on a mat. We don’t wear shoes in class since we are either doing yoga poses or sitting/lying on the mat.

I share a lot of health-related content from other professionals and sometimes just run-of-the-mill people in the FUN section of my emails. Make sure to sign up for my emails. You also get my free eBook when you sign up, but that’s not the best part.
The best part is you get a daily dose of positive energy.

My “Recipe” for Fall Athleisure Outfits

Over the years, I’ve found that the best way to take the guesswork out of getting dressed (especially when you want to stay consistent with your movement routine) is to have a style recipe. Basically, it’s a go-to formula that you can tweak for weather or mood.

I’ll showcase 4 of my recent fall athleisure outfits and explain the elements that have changed from summer to fall.

None of my items shown are new. Most are from years ago, and some even thrifted. But I also love how you can find a wide range of good-quality workout wear on Amazon.
For instance, I still love the longer sports bras like these. Or high waisted leggings, and the newer ones have a pocket on the side for your phone.
Don’t forget that Old Navy has a great selection, also.

Example #1: 3/4 Length Leggings

The 3/4 length leggings are a perfect transitional item for my fall athleisure outfits.

The long-sleeve top was added for the chill in the air, and usually comes off halfway through class. I’m wearing a long sports bra under it.

I thought it was fun to print mix with these 2 workout items.

Example #2: Shrug top Layer

Some days I can still wear my leggings shorts, but I usually need some type of arm coverage.
That’s where this shrug comes in perfectly.

Pro tip: Lulumon has these shrugs for a pretty penny, but you can find them on Amazon for a lot less. Don’t forget you can wear them backwards, depending on how much coverage you want in the front.

You can easily adapt this idea with full-length leggings if it’s chillier in your area.

Again, I loved the idea of print mixing with this fall athleisure outfit.

Example #3: Joggers and Long Sleeves

Longer pants are also a great transition. This pair of joggers is perfect for one of my fall athleisure outfits since they are lightweight.

I’m wearing another version of a shrug…I’d call it a cropped long-sleeve top, and Walmart has options for under $11.
While they are marketed to be worn alone, I like to layer mine over a long sports bra.

Example #4-3/4 Length Pants & Cropped Sweatshirt

Another pair of 3/4 length pants, only this pair is lightweight and not fitted.
I used the same recipe of a long sports bra and a cropped long-sleeve sweatshirt.

Pro tip: You could make this length of sweatshirt from an older one you aren’t wearing. Just cut it off a couple of inches under the arms and you’re good to go.

Don’t Categorize

One of the biggest perks of athleisure is its versatility. If you choose pieces that fit well and coordinate with your everyday wardrobe, you can easily mix them in for non-workout activities.

For example, I’ve shown other ways to wear such items in everyday life:
Joggers
Track Pants
Sports bra

While you may not feel as comfortable going out in your fall athleisuire wear outfits like the young girls do, there are some easy ways to layer over these looks so that you can run your errands after class.

My favorite choices are:

  • Throw on a long cardigan.
  • Swap shoes. You could easily bring a pair of slip-on mules, ankle boots, or fun flats to wear.
  • Layer a scarf either around your neck or waist.
  • Don’t forget you can pull a longer skirt over your leggings for a fabulous errand look.

Fashion should serve your life, not the other way around. And when your activewear doubles as real clothes, you’re more likely to keep moving and grooving.

Staying Active Year-Round

The start of fall can feel like a reset since kids go back to school, the air gets crisp, and routines shift. So this is your sign to make sure you recommit to yourself and your health.

Even if that means just going for a short walk, stretching in the living room, or doing five minutes of movement between tasks, it all counts! Having outfits that make you feel good is part of that motivation.

There are so many more ways to create your own version of a fall athleisure outfit. Any of them works as long as they make you excited to move.

There’s no expiration date on feeling strong, confident, and stylish.

Final Thoughts on Fall Athleisure Outfits

Athleisure isn’t just a trend (like I was hoping it was 10 years ago). Now I realize that it’s no different than the time period when women were finally allowed to wear pants. That has continued through the years, and I bet athleisure wear will too.

Considering that athleisure wear can showcase a lifestyle that merges comfort, confidence, and style, I think any age group can get behind it.

And when the season shifts, a few easy tweaks keep it fresh and functional. Longer sleeves, fun textures, and strategic layering make all the difference.
