September Day by Day

I appreciate each and every share. Thank you!

September day by day journal

September Day by Day

If someone asked you what you did this September, what would you say? I think it can be so hard to remember specific days and events when every day goes by in a flash, right? So I joined up with a couple of other bloggers to keep track of the month of September with a sentence and some photos. There’s a link up below if you’d like to see the other’s participating in this project, and a huge thanks for Leslie for organizing us!!

Of course the Alaska cruise that we took this month was the highlight for most of the photos. I have more to share, so stayed tuned!

September at the Benson Sculpture Gardens

9-1: Nancy wanted to visit the Benson Sculpture Gardens in Loveland, so we traveled north to explore and take some blog photos.

9-2: It was a full day of blogging, and organizing to get ready for our upcoming Alaskan cruise. To me, part of the fun of a vacation is the planning.

September peach gallette

9-3: Happy Labor Day. We spent the day with our friends across the street with a wonderful BBQ including rib eye on the grill!!  I made the peach gallette with Palisade peaches.

9-4: We got to squeeze in stretch class before our trip. Which is a good thing, because my body always gets all kinked up when I’m flying.

9-5: Today was the last minute packing and getting ready for our Alaskan trip. We always end up saying….”if we forget something, we can always buy it”

Sept in Seattle with Lana

9-6: This was the start of our vacation to celebrate my mom’s 80th birthday, and Nancy’s 70th birthday. We flew into Seattle to stay overnight before boarding the ship to Alaska. Luckily we were able to meet up with Lana while we were there! Lana is one of my Forever Fierce Sisters, who I’ll be seeing again in October in LA. The other woman in the photo is Maureen, my best friend from high school, who I have featured a couple of times on my blog.

September Alaska cruise

9-7: Day 1 of the cruise was getting on board and exploring all around. This was a Royal Caribbean ship called Explorer of the Seas, and it was large and lovely.

September Alaska cruise at day at sea

9-8: Day 2 of the cruise was at sea. Luckily this was the only day that it rained so it didn’t mess up any plans. Rob usually had his hands full of either coffee or ice cream since they were both in abundance.

September and Juneau

9-9: Day 3 of the cruise brought us into Juneau. The winds were so strong that it delayed us getting into port. Luckily we were still able to take our Taste of Alaska tour that included craft beer and fresh salmon along with matching ponchos.

September and Skagway

9-10: Day 4 of the cruise was the Skagway port where we boarded the White Pass Railway and explored up into Canada.

September Alaskan glacier

9-11: Day 5 was exploration of the Dawes Glacier from the safety of our ship. We weren’t able to get super close because of all of the mini icebergs in the water. And the glacier is that winding trail of what looks like dirt coming down to the water at the end the valley. It looks like dirt because there is so much dirt in the ice. Interesting, huh?

September rock climbing

9-12: Day 6 was a day at sea that included rock climbing for both Rob & I. We’d never tried it before, and the ship had a rock wall, so I thought it’d be the perfect time to give it a go. That’s Rob in the above photo on the wall. My video in on my Facebook page.

Butchart Gardens in September

9-13: Day 7 of the cruise was a trip into Victoria to see Butchart Gardens. We signed up for the excursion where we also enjoyed a picnic lunch at the gardens, which was fabulous.

9-14: We debarked in Seattle and spent the day exploring Fremont before we headed to the airport. If you’d like to see more photos from our cruise, I posted daily on my Facebook page. Look for Day 1 of our Alaska cruise and Day 2, etc.

September and goodwill

9-15: I was honored to be included in Goodwill’s Shop & Save here in Denver. The day also included a good long nap!! I think I must be the world’s worst traveler.

9-16: Did I do the normal things you do when you get back home from vacation? Like unpacking and laundry? No! Instead I worked on my blog posts for the week and tried to get caught up on those fun things.

9-17: Like I said, I tend to get kinked up when I travel, so today was a day to visit the chiropractor. Actually I had to return to his office an hour after my first visit because I was still hurting.

September with Lesley for classic movie night

9-18: We had movie night with Lesley tonight to watch Sunset Boulevard with William Holden. Who else loves these classic movies? The funniest thing is how Lesley and I dress alike for these evenings without advance notice. The first time we both wore red & white striped shirts, the second time it was blue shirts and today was floral shirts.

September as anniversary month for Jean & JoAnne

9-19: We spent the evening celebrating our neighbor’s 31st anniversary at the Chart House.

9-20: The 4 of us (I include Rob in the 4 since he’s the official photographer and videographer) headed out to our favorite local boutique, Trendz, to create a video about their upcoming fall pieces. You can see the video on Instagram today on my feed.

September online couch

9-21: We bought a new couch online. Crazy?? Maybe, but so far so good. We just put it together and LOVE the color. Now we will see how it works in our life.

9-22: Blog photos and since Denver is having their Doors Open Event, we explored some buildings we wouldn’t normally be able to see. One of the places we toured was the Oxford hotel which is the oldest operating hotel in Denver. You’ll see it in an upcoming blog post.

September Doors Open Denver Alleys

9-23: We ventured back downtown to see some more sights on this Doors Open Denver weekend. Above is a photo of one of the Downtown Denver Alleyways Project to beautify the alleys. This artist added ceramic kitties all along this particular alley, which was the cutest thing ever!

9-24: We finally got back into our normal schedule and made it to stretch class. My body is happy again!

september book club

9-25: It’s book club night where we socialized, ate and received a new book, The Perfect Couple, by Erin Hildabrand, to read.

9-26: Facial day, and my skin really needed it this time. I think all of the traveling and bad eating had something to do with it.

September in Estes

9-27: Blog photos day where we traveled up to Estes park to take in the glorious colors of the season and enjoy this little town! This was part of our welcoming committee….and they are REAL. In fact, if you follow along on my stories, you’d hear how excited we were to watch them then get herded down to the creek.

9-28: I was super excited to start giving Glenda, one of my book club friends, knitting lessons!! I love the hobby so much that it warms my heart to start others enjoying it too.

september at Fairmont cemetary

9-29: We attended the Fairmont’s Cemetary Mystery Tour. Even though it was at the cemetary, it wasn’t scary (luckily…I’m a wimp about those things). But it was very educational.

9-30: It was an almost stay at home all day kind of day. Except we did venture out for dinner with our neighbors.
