Weekly Wrap Up For 1.16.2021
Another week, another post to showcase not only what I wore each day, but also some of the behind the scene things going on.
Weekend
Sometimes an outfit is inspired by a prompt from an upcoming Instagram group. This one was winter whites with a pop of color. I added in a purple cardigan and then also wore a self belt from a top as my belt.
The booties are Walking Cradles and the furry vest is from thredUp (an online thrift store).
We finally put the Christmas tree and decorations away. Gosh, it always seems so empty without the tree for the first couple of days. But Rob had a great idea about next year adding a couple of smaller trees around our skinny tree. The skinny tree was great in our last place, but we have room for more here in this house.
On Sunday, my mom came over to record a couple of videos. One is for Laura Geller’s foundation where we just take the video, and the company edits and markets it. The other 2 are for my YouTube channel. One was a request from a reader about eye makeup for older women and the other is a more detailed description of the scarf clips we use. There was a comment on this video saying she would like to see the clips up close and in more detail. You ask, we try to deliver.
I don’t spend a ton of time on my YouTube channel. But sometimes there are things that are easier to explain in a video vs a blog post.
Fun fact: Remember the quick murphy bed video my husband did? Somehow it’s gone a bit viral and has 117,000 views!!! I wish mine did that well!!!
Monday
I’ve been trying hard to wear the clothes I already have in my closet. This skirt was made by my mom many, many years ago, and I knitted the sweater. In fact, I’ve worn in before on the blog here.
This summer I tried turning the hangers backwards after I wear an item, and I’ve been wearing more variety!! I definitely have worn at least 60% of my clothes so far!!
Tuesday
The outfit today was inspired by a post coming out soon on the blog. It was a request for styling which shoes with skirts. I know these tights are crazy, but then again so am I!!
I’m reading a book called Fashionopolis suggested to me by the interview I had recently on Instagram. I know many women have jumped on the sustainability bandwagon, and I don’t want to follow suit just because everyone else is. But I will admit that I like knowing more about the back story and the ways some companies are changing how clothes are made.
We also watched River Blue and True Cost recently. It feels a tad overwhelming, not unlike when I started researching more natural skin care.
I guess the good thing is the continued learning and evolving.
Wednesday
Okay, now I know this outfit is a tad (tad? many of you will say HUGELY) out of your comfort zone. And I will admit to feeling a bit like Iris Apfel. But I only grabbed the faux fur scarf because it’s always chilly in our house and I wanted the warmth!!
Maybe you notice the two different shoes? I asked my readers on IG for their vote, and majority went with the gold!!
BTW, the blouse, cardigan and skirt are all thrifted.
We also received our Revive Superfood smoothies in the mail today. We purchase these with our own money as a back up in case we don’t have time to make our own smoothies the night before.
I should write an entire post about smoothies maybe?? Our naturopath loves these Revive ones also because they are not only fruits and veggies, but also include nuts and seeds along with the fact they are darn clean of crap ingredients.
There are pros and cons, so if you have questions, ask!!

Thursday
This red plaid “shacket” (have you heard that term yet? It’s a cross between a shirt and a jacket) was worn for an Instagram collaboration with another woman who has a similar one. I always think it’s interesting to see the same item styled different ways. So I’m reaching out to women to have a #TwinningTuesday on Instagram.
It started when I saw my friend, LaDonna wearing the same camo jeans that I recently found at Goodwill. So I asked her to style them the same day so we could be twinsies. See my photo here.
For this outfit, I actually came up with 3 versions and asked everyone’s opinion on my IG stories. I think I’ll do that more!! This was the majority vote to style it over the striped top, and I added the statement necklace to make it more “me.” BTW, Rob called me a lumberjack today.
Friday
Today was an appointment with one of my mom’s doctors which explains the dressed up outfit. These are the snakeskin boots I purchased on our shopping trip from yesterday. Granted I won’t be wearing them when we go grocery shopping later in the day, but I like wearing my new things right away to make sure they are a success. AND these are fabulous!!
On the way home from my mom’s, the car behind me hit me while I was stopped. It’s just a fender bender luckily, and maybe it’ll be the push to get my car repainted. I have a 1997 Honda Del Sol and it only has 130,000 miles on it, so I’m not ready to replace it yet. But it does have some hail damage and wear and tear. I always say it’s like me with some scars from a wonderful life.

Thank You
