What Colors Go With Aqua Clothes? Stunning Metallics

I appreciate each and every share. Thank you!

One of my favorite things about fashion is taking a color or piece that feels a little out of season and giving it new life. This month, our Ageless Style group took on the idea of fall colors, and instead of heading straight for orange, burgundy, or mustard yellow, I decided to go a little rogue. Instead, I challenged my crew with the idea of what colors go with aqua clothes?

Quote of the day: “The expert at anything was once a beginner.” Helen Hayes

When I saw an article on Plumager that Aquatic Awe was a trending color for fall 2025, I decided that we would skip the traditional colors and try something new.

I realize that this shade may be typically saved for spring and summer, but let’s break down those walls and see how we can style it with metallics, which bring about a more autumn vibe.

So the question changed from what colors go with aqua clothes to let’s see a variety of metallics paired with it.

Metallics as what colors go with aqua clothing

Sometimes we imagine metallics only for the holidays, so I’m challenging both the aqua and the metallics to work for this season.

Valerie: Dark Aqua (Turquoise) With Gold

Valerie took a slightly deeper version of aqua, leaning into turquoise territory, and paired it with gold accents.

Gold naturally warms up aqua, which can sometimes read as a “cool” shade. The pairing feels totally unexpected for fall, but with her other color choices, I bet you’d admit that it’s fabulous.

She layered her jacket over her chevron print top and wide-leg pleated pants (pants like this are brilliant because they can look like a skirt but have the functionality of pants).

Her gold came in the form of a scarf thrown over her shoulder as well as her sandals. Both of these items tie in with the metallic tank top worn under the jacket.

Details:

-Heart earrings are not just for Valentine’s month. I love how you can wear them anytime because “Love” is always in style.
-You might ask how her scarf stays put when it’s styled this way, but a knit item on top of another knit stays put better than silky on silky. If you need a tool, then a cardigan pin or brooch is helpful.

Jodie: Aqua With Silver

Lately, I’ve been trying hard to find ways to wear my hand-knits. I pulled out this aqua sleeveless sweater that I made years ago, and decided to combine it with my silver jeans.

True confessions time. While I love this top, the way it was shown when finished (and how I wore it because that’s the only way I knew) was not my favorite. I didn’t like how it emphasized the girls-even when the straps were tied in the back. So I took it upon myself to be the boss of my clothes and figure out another way to wrap the straps.
NOW?
OMG, I love it this way. Details in the “details section” below.

Moral of the story: Just because you don’t like a detail about a clothing item does not make it bad. Fix that detail to make it work for you.

BTW, I love my thrifted silver jeans from years ago, but they were a skinny silhouette, so I took it upon myself to try a wide leg version.

You may not find many silver jeans to buy until closer to the holidays, but may I suggest grabbing a pair now? They are so much fun for every day, and why wait until the prices are higher?
Think of silver jeans as a variation of white with shine.

Details:

-For the top, instead of wrapping the ties under my girls and tying them, I pulled them over each shoulder and attached them at the side with a small, sparkly brooch.
-SUPER excited that I could wear these thrifted shoes. At first, they were tight on my bunions, but I used my bunion stretchers and left them in for 3 months. Now they feel great.
-Yes, I’m wearing 2 different earrings in each ear, courtesy of Valerie, who does this repeatedly.
-And why a purple purse? Because it really pops and looks fun.

Charlotte: Aqua Black Metallic

Charlotte went the classic route, but with a twist. She styled her aqua cardigan over a white blouse, then paired it with a black metallic skirt. What I love here is how there is a subtle shimmer in her skirt that gives it sass, but it’s not over the top.

She’s worn this skirt loads of times, and while we tend to think of it as dressy, it would be just as fabulous with sneakers and a t-shirt.

Black and aqua can sometimes feel stark when paired together, but add in metallic texture and suddenly it’s fresh, fun, and completely ageless. Plus, Charlotte topped it all off with a matching aqua belt, proving that accessories are often the glue that ties a look together.

Details:

-Adding a belt is an easy way to cover a waistband that isn’t your favorite. You can see how this skirt’s waistband is a dark black, so the belt hides that fact. Another option is to use a scarf as a belt.
-Metallic black is one of those “colors” we don’t think about much, but can take the starkness away from pure black.

Making Aqua a Fall Color

Fashion “rules” used to tell us that certain colors belonged to specific seasons. Pastels were for spring, brights for summer, jewel tones for fall, and deep hues for winter. But the 2020s are about shaking off those rules.

That’s why I love reading all the different articles when it comes to the fall colors, because you might not have imagined aqua being in the running.
And then you probably wouldn’t have asked which colors go with aqua clothing to wear in the fall?

I think my crew showcased some amazing examples to switch up your traditional fall color outfits.

Insider tip: Our closets grow infinitely bigger by making colors seasonless.

Final Thoughts

If you’ve ever wondered what colors go with aqua clothes, I hope we gave you some inspiration to think beyond the obvious. Aqua plus metallics is chic, fresh, and can work beautifully in fall.

I might say that the best part of fashion is not about following rules, but about experimenting, having fun, and finding combinations that make you feel fabulous.

My emails are my way to share fun and positive content with you from all of the sites I visit during the week. Sure, you also get my free eBook when you sign up, but that’s not the best part.
The best part is you get a daily dose of positive energy.

My Goal

Thank you for visiting my space on the internet. I like to showcase how it’s never too late to look great for women of any age, size, or working with any kind of budget.
I feel I’m here to help move beyond the fashion rules of yesterday and evolve. Style and clothes are made to give you joy. Not cause us stress because we are worried about what others think.

My hope is that you get ideas and inspiration from my crew and me. It’s not about copying what we wear, but about using what you already have and updating items along the way.
Most of all, it’s getting us to think differently and dare I say, have fun.
