A Casual Winter Outfit with the Focus on Red
Many a winter outfit have a focus on red when we are thinking about the holidays. And since our celebrations might be a tad more casual this year, we thought we would concentrate on staying casual.
Quote of the day: “The most courageous act is still to think for yourself. Aloud.” Coco Chanel
Any get together tends to start with the question of what should I wear? Heck, this year many of us are wondering if we should even get dressed in anything other than loungewear. Yet there is nothing more true than feeling better about yourself when you look good.
Of course the idea of casual is subjective. For Lesley, that meant a pair of wide leg black pants from a couple of seasons ago along with this thrifted jacket. Her commentary is she would wear this to dinner out with the girls, a neighborhood get together and to the ballet. It’s one of those outfits that always gets many compliments which is something we all feel better in.

The jacket is the center piece of this winter outfit with it’s beautiful embroidery on both the front panels and the back. In fact, Lesley kept everything else the same color to keep the focus on the jacket.
You can see how this jacket looks with another outfit Lesley has worn.
These are the kinds of pieces that are worth their weight in gold especially if you are lucky enough to find them secondhand.
If you find something that catches your eye like this, it’s smart to snag it, even if you aren’t sure when you will wear it. If you have it, you can find the right occasion to bring it out and show it off..
Insider tip: You can shop preloved online through thredup or Poshmark if you don’t want to venture out.

Accessories
Even though the jacket takes center stage, the accessories are the supporting actresses. Don’t forget them or chose ones that blend in too much. I feel like our accessories are those details that really set us apart and make us individual.
Notice this wonderful necklace. Sure, there is a red bead in it, but otherwise the gold and black of it really pops it against the red top. If the entire necklace had been red, you wouldn’t notice it at all.

Red Shoes
Whether you believe that shoes can make or break an outfit, you have to admit that a pair of red shoes really ups the style quotient. While every woman wears black pants, it’s more modern to add in a different color shoe instead of sticking with black.
Your shoes don’t have to be heels and they don’t have to be red, but I hope you have at least one pair that puts a little spring in your step. For those of you who have foot issues, I have a blog post in the queue about some of the tricks that the three of us use.

My Goal
Thank you for visiting my space on the internet. I like to showcase how it’s never too late to look great for women of any age, size or working with any budget.
I feel I’m here to help move beyond the fashion rules of yesterday and evolve. Style and clothes are made to give you joy. Not cause us stress because we are worried about what other’s think.
My hope is that you get ideas and inspirations from Charlotte, Lesley and myself. It’s not about copying what we wear, but about using what you already have and updating items along the way.
Most of all it’s getting us to think differently and dare I say, have fun?
