Another Way to Wear a Scarf in Summer is as a Handbag Scarf
A handbag scarf is such an easy way to get great use out of your scarves in the summer. They can be a wonderful way to add print, a different color or even cover up an imperfection on your purse.
Quote of the day: ” Not all superheros wear capes–some wear scarves.”
With the idea that we can still wear our scarves in the hotter months, we are trying to showcase different ways to do that. Lesley started out the series and I will give another option. You can also check out many other ways we have worn scarves before.

Charlotte and her Summer Scarf Style

I had to include this photo as we were out exploring for our first time in Arizona!! You’ll hear more about it later this week on the blog, but trust me, it included shopping.
And my mom bought this belt. She loved how it went with the outfit so perfectly. Along with the fact that it was on sale and only $8. She didn’t wear it the rest of the day only because it was over 100 degrees outside. But I’m sure you’ll see it again soon.

This Handbag Scarf
I love how my mom can remember some of the most vivid details about her clothing and purchases. Not that she remembers as much about her smart phone when I try to teach her things…ha ha!! Like we always joke, we remember what we really love and care about.
So mom remembers that this scarf was purchased at J. Crew back in 1990. We happened to be out in San Francisco attending one of my friend’s wedding. I have photos of all of us out there, but in no way do I remember going shopping!! It goes to show we all remember certain events so differently.

Green
My mom made these green pants, so of course she wore her green shoes with them. I just love the idea of green shoes as a pop of color. Almost as much as the yellow purse.
Last summer one of my book club friends had purchased the coolest, green sandals from Talbots. As soon as I got home, I looked for them online but they had already been sold out. And I really don’t see bright green shoes much at the stores. I guess I’ll have to scour the second hand stores for a pair.

Charlotte and Scarves
Mom thinks her first serious scarf was a Vera back in the late 60’s (that she still has). My first question is what is a non-serious scarf…LOL? But all kidding aside, she then has been acquiring many more scarfs to coordinate with outfits or coats.
Then my mom started making scarves from left over fabric. You can see an example of this for Nancy’s scarf with the same material of mom’s maxi and my skirt.
Heck, she even remembers that back in the 1990’s, they came out with printed material for scarves where you just had to hem them. Needless to say my mom has a ton of scarves in her collection. If you don’t believe me, you can check out the video when I showcased all of her accessories.
My mom can’t say that she has a favorite way to wear them because she likes to try them all (except for on the head…maybe we need to experiment with that on the blog?). In fact, she even has collected many accessories to wear with them like the one here and a different one here.
Mom considers scarves as having unlimited possibilities whether that’s in their shape, color, style or even how you can change them up. Do you remember the time she took a big scarf and made it a kimono? My mom even remembers back in the 60’s tying bandanna scarves together to make a halter top. Maybe we should try that again, LOL?
