Styling a Lime Green Pants Outfit

I appreciate each and every share. Thank you!

Light blue and lime green

Styling a Lime Green Pants Outfit

I was inspired to wear this color combination as part of my lime green pants outfit from an idea on Instagram months ago. I wished I had saved the post so I could share it with you, but it was a couple of outfits showing light blue and lime green together.

Quote of the day: “The only thing worse than being blind is having sight but no vision.” Helen Keller

It’s not always easy to put together colors that you haven’t paired before, but I’m here to tell you it’s fun. It’s almost that same excitement as being a kid again because it’s new and exciting. Even if lime green isn’t your cup of tea, I hope I inspire you to get creative with what you already have in your closet. Or take a chance on something new.
You’ve all heard the quote “We don’t stop playing because we grow old; we grow old because we stop playing.” I believe that to be true with our style and clothing too.

While this started because Lesley bought a lime green skort, I thought it was also timely because a reader had commented that she had a lime green jacket and didn’t wear it much.
Because green and blue are next to each other on the color wheel, it’s a great place to start when mixing colors. Charlotte wore her lime green with navy along with a print.

Don’t forget to see the results of the scavenger hunt below. We sure know how to have fun here in the desert!!

Summer outfit for women over 40

Summer Scarves

A comment from the how to style a boatneck tee post made me realize how I rarely wear my scarves in the summer. So I deliberately pushed myself to wear one with this outfit. Sure, many scarves are used to keep us warm, and that’s the last thing we need in the summer months.
Yet there are many lighter scarves too that can pull the colors together in an outfit. In fact, I can tell you, I forgot I had this on throughout the day since the top and scarf were so lightweight.

Insider tip: The silk scarves are best for the summer, and the smaller the better. But if you don’t want them on your body, don’t forget to decorate your purses or hats.

Intentional

As you saw with both Charlotte’s and Lesley’s outfit, they used a print topper to make the color pairing seem more intentional. For my outfit, I used the scarf and the shoes.
When two colors are put together and you’re not sure about them, you can tie it all together with something that has the two colors in them. Remember, the colors don’t have to match exactly, but just have to go.

Sometimes the intentional piece can be a neutral to ground the outfit. It can also lighten up the outfit as Lesley did with her scarf in the past.

Multi colored Walking Cradles shoes

Walking Shoes

Part of my lime green pants outfit was a pair of Walking Cradles shoes since I knew we would be on our feet much of the day. These mules are from last season and are available in limited sizes now. Search for “Win” and the best part is they are 60% reduced.
If you don’t like showcasing your toes in the summer, then I think mules are the best option. At least part of your foot is exposed. You can see the tiny pillows in the foot bed, which is one of the reasons Walking Cradles shoes are so comfortable.

Inside tip: Your first purchase of Walking Cradles gets you a 15% discount with code JODIE15 (unless already on sale but always try it just in case).

Linen pants for the summer

Dressing for the Event

Since our day was going to be about shopping, I thought it would be easier to have my hands free. That’s why I grabbed my belt bag. I’ve shown 5 ways to wear my cognac belt bag in the past. It works with pants, dresses and other options too.

I’m sure we all take into account the activities of our day before getting dressed. That along with the weather, what fits us that day, along with how pieces look together can get overwhelming at times. Which is why many people succumb to a “uniform.”
It’s not bad to have a “uniform” especially when you have too many other things to worry about. Yet if you’re retired, now could be the perfect time to experiment with style and clothes. Why not spark joy with what is on your body?

Insider tip: “Playing” with our clothes is also a good brain activity. Anytime you are trying something new and different, it causes new pathways to be built in your brain.

Our Scavenger Hunt

Scavenger hunt at Goodwill

The day was all about exploring 3 different Goodwills in our area. We had a list (that I showed here) and had 45 minutes at each store.
To make it fun, I also gave out $10 to spend on anything!! You can see we didn’t have trouble spending it above. Many of the treasures each of us bought were things the others found. Or when we put things away, we came upon other great items!! (In fact, you’ll see my top next week that I found this way).

If you’re interested, the hardest thing to find from my list was the dragonfly anything. The reason I had dragonflies on the list is because Lesley loves them. And the easiest? That was probably a tie between the clothing with linen in it and floral with no green in it.

FYI, my husband chose the painting I’m holding for his office area. Lesley found a ton of dishware that were blue and yellow that is in her bags. And those pillows I’m holding ended up on our back patio.
