6 Color Combinations with a Beautiful and Vintage Pink Print Sweater
I always love mixing up color combinations with every piece in my closet. To me, it’s the way to make our wardrobes VERY versatile. However, I was a tad perplexed with this pink print sweater, so it took more experimenting than usual.
Quote of the day: “Fashion mirrors our attitude about life….and hanging onto the way things were in the past only serves to prevent us from living in the moment and truly appreciating it.” Senior Style Bible
This quote is from Dorrie who is 86 years old. I shared her entire Facebook post recently because it really hit home as what I’m trying to say also. I love how she admits there can be a period of adjustment with new styles and thinking about what we wear. So while I may showcase something, you may still be adjusting to the idea. I hope that doesn’t make you closed to the concepts.
Finding color combinations that work with any color is the idea behind my color recipe. Just like I discussed in my evolution of life post, even I used to always match my clothes, especially when it was a print piece.
But now I’m hoping to push all of us into finding more options with our clothing especially when it comes to color combinations.

The Answer of What to Wear with ANY Color
This Sweater
Just a little information about this particular sweater. It’s a Givency Sport sweater that I found thrifting in Flagstaff last fall. It didn’t have a price tag on it, so when I asked, the sales associate said $2. How could I not get it??
When I got it home, I did notice a couple of small stains on it, however, with the print, I bet you could never pick them out. I know I have trouble finding them.
When I google Givency Sport, I learned that it was widely worn on the Charlie’s Angels tv program. So just call me another “angel”!
While I think I’m pretty open to many different color combinations at this stage of the game, I will be entirely honest and say this sweater wasn’t as easy for me as usual.
Looking at the sweater now, I do think olive green and navy blue would be other good options. And if you have more ideas, I’m all ears.
Now onto my color recipe and how I styled it.
1. Light Neutral
2. Dark Neutral
3. Light Color
4. Dark Color
5. Texture Print Mixing
6. Color Print Mixing

Light Neutral Pairing
My first response for many items is to wear it with white. I think by now we all realize that white can be worn all year long. In fact, I always LOVE it in winter because it adds a lightness to any outfit.
If you still have issues with white jeans in winter, then how about ivory ones? This pair is actually more of a cream color and isn’t as bright.

Dark Neutral Color Combinations
Since there is tan in the sweater, I stayed in the brown family for this idea. These brown faux leather pants are nice and warm for the winter. BTW, I am wearing my no show Sheec socks with these sneakers which are the brand, Walking Cradles, called the “Orleans”.

Light Color Option
At first glance you may think these jeans are ivory also. However, in real life they are actually a blush pink. Some colors I’ve noticed, can look like neutrals. For instance a light blue can appear to be grey. It all depends on the lighting and how far away you are from the subject.
I wore white booties with this to showcase the difference between the light pink and white.

Finding a Dark Color
The sweater is a pink print, so I copied my idea from the dark neutral and wore a pair of burgundy velvet jeans.
Burgundy and pink are different shades of the same color red, so they should always look great together.
You can see the sweater paired with another color here if you want more examples.

Texture Print Mixing
What do I mean by texture print mixing?? It’s the idea that texture is a print because it has different shades of the same color. For example, we showcased this idea when first talking about print mixing years ago.
These gold jeans I wore in my first edition of wearing something many different ways in a post. Then I’ve also showcased them as part of how to describe your shoe personality.
I chose these jeans because the gold comes across as a tan color and I thought it would blend in with the tan in the sweater.

Color Print Mixing
This idea is not everyone’s favorite and I understand. It has taken me years to feel comfortable with wearing two prints together. Yet home decorators do it ALL the time with rooms and decor. Besides, I propose that it not only adds a challenge for our brain (which is a good thing), it also gives us many more options for styling a piece.
I wanted to stick with the same color combinations if possible, so I pulled out a brown print skirt. It’s impossible to see from far away, however, the lighter colors in the skirt are gold and pink.
Insider tip: This is how I love to wear my OTK boots. With shorter skirts so I feel more covered!! If you think you are too old for these kinds of boots, I’d like to remind you that my 82 year old mother has 3 pair. They are very functional since they keep you warmer!!!
