How to Wear Graphic Tees
How to wear graphic tees may seem like a topic for younger girls, yet I do think this is an ageless style for so many reasons.
Quote of the day: “When people are more formally dressed compared with their peers, they feel more powerful, which helps them think more abstractly and creatively.” Social Psychological and Personality Science
This quote is very interesting to think about. Especially when discussing how to wear graphic tees. But just like anything, I think you can dress up or dress down any piece of clothing. It’s a modern trend to pair an item with it’s opposite.
This whole idea started with the theme of “Unexpected” for the week. For me it was a color pairing, and for my friend, Shelly, it was a hat with some print mixing. And I discuss this challenge in more detail as we explored Union Station.

Charlotte and How to Wear Graphic Tees
For my mom, the idea of wearing a graphic tee in public with a skirt just doesn’t compute. They are two opposite items and that’s not how she was raised. In fact, when we were discussing this idea, she kept saying how hard it would be to wear this.
And I get it when I think about how it was to style my outfit for this theme. Yet like I discussed earlier in the week, nobody else would realize this isn’t your go-to look. Charlotte still appears well dressed and wonderful.
It really opened my eyes to the fact that while we say we “can’t wear this or that”, it’s all in our head.
Even Lesley doesn’t have many graphic tees but had fun styling it with a blazer.

Graphic Tee

My mom has a couple of fun graphic tees. Granted they don’t usually see the light of day. She keeps them for working out which she does at home. We have explored this type of idea on the blog in the past, but in reality, my mom didn’t leave her neighborhood for those photos.
I wasn’t a huge fan of graphic tees when I first started blogging. However, there are some really fun, whimsical ones that I’m now a fan. If you like shoes, then you might also appreciate this other shoe graphic tee.
Accessories

My mom is queen of accessories. She has every one in every color. And since black is not the best color for her complexion, she grabbed her red, high heeled earrings to try to distract from that fact.
These earrings we bought at the Denver Art Museum. Mom, Rob and I had attended the Dior Exhibition and of course, we had to check out the gift shop. While I couldn’t find an exact replica, I did find a red shoe set on Amazon.
Shoes

Now that we have been going places and exploring for blog photos, my mom has been wearing more flats. This pair was gifted by Walking Cradles and mom wore them as a pop of color when we went to Denver Botanic Gardens.
I’ve showcased Walking Cradle shoes many, many times because I’m a huge fan. I don’t get any commission, I just think it’s a wonderful company with a fabulous product. In fact, on my recent trip to NYC, the majority of the shoes I took were Walking Cradles because of their comfort.

Changing Style
I asked my mom if her style has changed over the years. Of course the answer is yes depending on certain job requirements, the occasion and the weather. And at this stage of the game, the needs of the blog also come into play along with the fact that we’ve moved to an entirely different environment.
While we tend to stick to the same styles for various reasons, I think our style should evolve over time. Our preferences for food, entertainment and even friends change. So why shouldn’t our fashion sense? Which brings me around to the theme this week. If I asked you to dress in an “unexpected” outfit, what would that mean for you.
