Styling a Floral Dress with White Sneakers
It’s so modern right now to style a floral dress with white sneakers. Sure, you may not think that dresses and sneakers play well together, but it can be so functional.
Quote of the day: “A moment’s insight is sometimes worth a life’s experience.” Oliver Wendall Holmes Sr.
This idea for the week goes to our friend, Mike Prill who we met when we traveled up to Brighton to see the Adams County Museum. He had requested summer dresses with white pumps. And we were going to wear that combination for that field trip. However, that day turned COLD, so we had to change the theme last minute.
Therefore, I decided to style it for another time. A day like this when the weather cooperated. While all three of us don’t have white pumps, I figured I could give some variety to the idea of white footwear.
Since my mom has white pumps, she wore those. Nancy wore white flats, and I also shared some tips on keeping any white pieces more white.

My Floral Dress with White Sneakers
I’ve embraced the idea of sneakers with dresses now. Sure, the style isn’t exactly how I was brought up, but it’s certainly smart for days of walking. I even had a reader email me a photo of her wearing a dress with sneakers from the 1960’s. Like they say, styles recycle!
I’ve worn the same concept before on the blog recently. While the summer usually calls for sandals, there are plenty of times that sneakers are smarter.

In all honesty, I’m not entirely happy with this outfit. More about that below, but it’s good to realize not every look will be perfect. And it’s no big deal. You basically get a mulligan each and every day.
The Dress

I’ve had this dress for over 8 years. I remember because I bought it in New York when we used to go visit Rob’s mom before she passed.
I haven’t worn it much lately, and now I think I know why. The color just doesn’t seem to be great for me. After learning my best colors, I’m really trying to stick with the good ones. I would describe this dress as muted in color, while my best colors are bright and clear. Why wear something that doesn’t make you look your best?
So since we are purging for our upcoming move to AZ, I will delegate this to the giveaway pile. I find it’s so helpful to take photos of any items you aren’t sure how they look on you. For some reason, it seems more obvious in photos than in the mirror at times.
Wearing a Bralette

It’s funny because I don’t remember this dress being so exposed when I used to wear it. It was tighter at the time because I’ve lost some weight since then. But I found on this day that the sleeves kept slipping off. That’s why I added in the bralette.
I recently wrote an entire blog post on the idea of wearing a bralette. While I still wear a regular bra with them, it’s such a nice way to cover up any bra straps or fill in the neckline, like today.
Modcloth has some pretty bralettes for not much money if you’re interested. That’s where I bought 2 of mine. And I think I’ll be adding more to my collection after we move.
White Sneakers

While I see many young bloggers sporting athletic white sneakers with their dresses, I still like the fun sneakers better. Even Converse sneakers seem to have more sass about them.
What I really like about this pair of white sneakers is the fact they are distressed with the raw edge around the opening. That and the colorful soles makes them a little more unique.
Clear Purse

Ever since getting this purse last year from our local boutique, Trendz n Trinkets, I have carried it to death. To me it just screams summer, although I still use it in the winters too.
If you worry about all your stuff being seen in a clear purse, then you might be interested in my purse organization ideas. The little bags I have used the most are from “free gift with purchase” makeup deals. This white one is from Lancome, but I try to hide the logo to face inwards.
